He made sure nobody was in the car, rolled all the windows up, and locked all of the sedan's doors. He went off, but when he came back, his wife was dead, and there was a stranger in the car. No physical damage was done to the car, so how did the stranger get in?

If he made sure nobody was in the car, the woman he was with must've been outside the car waiting for him since she didn't go with him for help.
For all we know the woman was his sister, mother, daughter, girl friend etc. since they were driving in "their" car. She had a key and let a stranger in perhaps to get in out of the rain.
His wife could've died anytime since she wasn't with them.

Nobody inside the car besides his wife u mean? Then she must have opened the car door lock from inside which is very much possible, let the man, they lock the doors again, he kills her !

The stranger was a baby and the woman died in childbirth.
Luckily he came back on time, otherwise it's curtains for the baby due to heatstroke or suffocation!
