The "classic" logon screen is sitll in XP Because large companies use it so many people could logon at once. Itis hard for Windows to display a icon for every account if there's 100 accounts.
If You wanna bring back the "XP" Welcome screen, go to control panel>user accounts, and choose "change how users login". then make a check next to the "use the welcome screen" option You have to reboot, but you'll see it the next time you startup.

it's a security feature. pressing ctrl+alt+delete to login hides your pc's user account names, making it more difficult for strangers to make unauthorized logins to the PC.

this is an option in XP.

to bring back the normal XP login screen, go to start, control panel, user accounts, and click "change how users login". then make sure the "use the welcome screen" option is enabled. you're finished.

It is a version of Windows, why would they change it? Familiarity is a comfort for everyday users. Good luck!
