ALOT of our teens have more RESPECT & RESPONSIBLITY
than what we are willing to accept. All we need to do is to realize that a younger person is capable of parenting as we are. Oh & by the way..parenting is a lifelong course. So we who are parents now still have alot to learn. ( We learn from our children)

It is true that some adult women abuse the right to have a child. This in no way advocates teens having a baby though. I'm not saying that a teenager can not be a good parent. After all, I had my kids at ages 19 and 20. But waiting is always better. Of course, there are a lot of teenagers that are responsible enough to be parents. Those same teenagers are only going to be that much more mature and responsible and prepared for parenting if they wait.

However, there are a lot of benefits to having children young. I'm still young enough that I can run after my 5 year old son, and I don't get winded (much). And I'm still young enough to remember being little....I don't mind fingerpainting and sidewalk chalk and bubbles....my point is that I think I'm a much more fun parent b/c I'm younger. And I'm even more protective of my kids, b/c I'm paranoid about people judging the fact that I'm such a young mother.

Regardless of whether or not they choose to wait to have a baby, being a parent is a huge step that really changes a person's life. I think it's a great occurence for some teens b/c it's exactly what that person needed to help them transition from child to adult. It really changes a person's life. The only good thing about waiting is that they get more of an opportunity to be a kid themselves.

interesting how times change huh? As little as 100 years ago age of adulthood or consent for a female was 12-13. We baby ourselves too much, it will be the eventual cause of our extinction.
