Sure, because it eliminates the start and stop phases of driving, which are pretty much energy wasters.

yes im sure it could .. ... but while you waiting for that item on your christmas list, there are other ways to save gas... slower starts from traffic lights/signs, maintain an even speed, check your tire pressure, keep your engine and car properly cleaned and serviced, coordinate your errands to where you are completeing a circle instead of running back and forth all over town, carpool, eliminate uneeded trips or plan your trips better to where if you going to a place on the other side of town think of anything else you might need while you in that area.... the list goes on...

As long as you don't take off like a crazy person and haul @ss to the next light you shouldn't be wasting extra gas. It might make your breaks last longer tho.

yes im sure it would but the best gas saver is taking off slower and and taking foot off gas a little before the stoplight instead of stopping at the last second

Yes, but have you EVER come across sets of co-ordinating traffic lights. If you have where are they? I'd like to see one sometime.
