I think I'd like to take a cruise where everything is planned out for me. The idea of getting on a boat and just relaxing and having fun is very appealing vs making all the plans, making sure everything is done, catching planes, etc.

For the caribbean, I think a cruise sounds great. But overall, would you rather visit a ship most of the time and making short stops in foreign cities, or actually engage a foreign city, culture, people by staying there for a bit? I have never been on a cruise, but would really like to go on one, but if I want to visit somewhere, I'd rather stay there for a while and just fly there.

A cruise would be fine when i feel lazy...
most of the times, i plan my itinerary to the countries i'm going, to save on budget and have more choices other the normal touristy attractions...experience the local taste and culture with no rush.. thats what i like!

I always plan my own vacation and always have a great one. But that is for budgetary reasons.

To answer your question, I would love to do both.
