I'm not saying it is ok to bite your dog. Have you ever raised a litter of pups? How does the mother correct the pups? I have seen her growl, bark and even snap at them. The growl is like you or I telling our kids "no". The bark would be a firm "NO" and the snap would be the third strike and your out kinda punishment and this is when the pup know she isn't playing around. Ask your vet what he /she thinks. I have actually had a vet tell me to bite a dog on the ear (not hard) just enough to cause discomfort.

When you have 1 or more dogs, then the dog or dogs and the HEAD of the PACK (which is you, the pet owner) will have to set up a higharcy between the dogs and yourself. If this is a young pup that you are working with then, yes you might have to bite a young dog to setup who is the head of the pack. I'm not saying that you need to stick a paw in your mouth to bite him but a little nip on the ear will get the point over to the new dog or pup as to who is the pack leader. Young dogs will not bite you back because you are disciplining them. Another way I have used to stop dogs from biting is to take your thumb and force under the dogs tongue and press down hard and pinch between your thumb and fore finger and tell him NO. After a couple of times he will get the idea on what he is not to do.. I can hear the howls of laughter from the other people how read this, but it WORKS and that is the bottom line....

In this day and age the owner would probably sue you for biting his dog. His entire suit would be based on the premise that since his dog is a dog, you should have expected him to bite, therefore, you should have stayed away from him. However, because you are a human his dog did not expect you to bite him so he didn't think to stay away from you. He'd probably win the case too.

No the dog would just bite you again and you really aren't doing anything good by biting the dog.

Do you mean like if you have a puppy & it bites you then to sow it whos boss bite it back? "NO" that is mean! & it might make the dog afraid of you or agressive it may even grow up to be a snapper so my best advice is to say NO to it in a very firm voice do this untill it stops, if that dosen't work use a rolled up news paper and hit the floor next to it when it bites at you& tell him No! Please don't bite your dog!!!

If its your dog then by all means bite away......my English Setter bite me once when she was young & I bit her in her ear, just hard enough for it to hurt(you dont want to cause vet bills or a mess) and Imma tell you she NEVER tried that again. You have to be the alpha in your household, your dog needs to know who is highest ranking in your pack(family).

Consider this, is it okay to poop on a bird because it pooped on you... NOO, but in your case, biting a dog couldn't cause any harm to yourself

I knew a six year old that did that, he and the dog survived. I'm not saying it's okay but it sure was funny.
