Now with the new yahoo version and improved (yeah right!!) msn messenger you can add the oponents contact address to chat across the platform. However, you are not able to see if the contact from the other platform is online. So what is the use?

the yahoo-msn functionality is not working 100% correctly right now because it is a new, experimental feature. yahoo and Microsoft are still working the kinks out of the system.
a week after the announcement, I'm noticing that it is working a little better. it should work more smoothly as time goes on, but there's nothing u can do now about it.
this is beta software, which means it is still experimental.

I have the same problem. I am thinking that everyone you add may need to have the new yahoo also. I tried to troubleshoot the problem with a msn contact that was online at the time but we couldnt get it to work. my msn contact did not have the new yahoo.
