If we swore using "Mohammed" we probably have Muslims upset, have your own personal Al quida on your doostep.
If we swore by saying "Buddha" we would offend a lot of people.

How come Christians have to hear the name of Jesus profaned.

If I hear it from someone I pray for them. That they will someday call on the name of Jesus for salvation and repent.

The cosmic enemy of God - Satan - hates Jesus and he uses people as a tool to swear at Him. So if you like to use His name as a swear word remember you are just a tool.

I find it so offensive and if somebody says those words in my pressence - I will confront them!

I should admit that I have used those words before but now that I understand what it really means I try really hard not tto say them.

I speak other languages, except English and I hear it quite often in our language... I always confront people and tell them to RESPECT God, even if they don't believe then they should respect my beliefs and appologize!

God bless you sister!

Ps: We should actually start a poll!

Everybody! GO TO THIS POLL AND DECIDE FOR YOURSELF - DO YOU WANT TO HEAR THE BLASPEHMY OF OUR GOD'S NAME ON TV/RADIO AND MEDIA?

Thank you - there's a song called He's More Than Just A Swear Word, He's The Precious Son of God - it's been years since I heard it, but it came to mind as I read your discourse. And yes, I find it very offensive and I find it offensive when people say "Oh, God" like I would say "good grief" or "oh, my" - it just confirms that there is little respect for the only name in heaven and under heaven by which all men will bow - but I guess you have to believe that to understand it.

Linguistically: God Damn (It), means just what it says. When uttered, it used to be followed by the sign of the cross (middle ages). Used in times of extreme frustration. Example: God damn, these christians have thin skins...

Jesus Christ: was originally meant as a (very) short form prayer, asking for strength to deal with a trying situation, or person. Example: Jesus Christ these christians have thin skins...

Buddhists would not be offended, nor would they try to convert you to their way of thinking. They would simply go about their business, knowing that its just a word, and they were more enlightened.

I use it as a sort of angry prayer. I NEVER use His/ Her name "in vain," which to me means "without usefulness" or "without expecting intercession." Every time I say His/ Her name, even as a knee-jerk excamation (like when I slam my finger in the car door), it is in the hope that the situation will be amended or that I will get some releif. I never swear at God, because that is pointless. God is not the source of SUFFERING, He is the source of COMFORT. So what good does it do to yell at Him/ Her? I should be yelling at the real culprit--myself or another HUMAN. Sheesh, we should stop blaming Satan for our troubles and look in the mirror.

I think that early Christians could name upon the Lord in instances of first-class risk and with out ample time to wish could in religion name upon the holy title for safeguard,by way of the centuries un-believers listening to this could imitate this as a mockery of Christian ideals and this has come to be an unlucky variety of derision in opposition to Christ, the evil one among path had his hand on this.

Christianity-thanks to Joyce Meyer and those Church Ads on late night TV, Christianity is the #1 religion in the world and people uses God's name as Curse word becuase the religion itself is popular... (Passion Of the Christ also made Cussing in God Name popular)

As A Baptist Christian, I believe Cursing in the Holy Spirit/Name is terrible... In the Bible, God created the 10 Commandments so his people can obey him... One of them are, You may not say God's Name in Vain. Which involved with this.. "G*d D**n it!" "Oh My G*d" "J****S CH***T!" it is terrible... There is no other way to stop it... Only God can control it, and he will do something to stop it in the future.. But for now, We just have to deal with it....

Thou shall not use the name of the Lord thy God in vain. That means to love & respect God's name. That includes to love & respect Jesus name.

When mentioning the Lord God, are you praying to Him or talking respectfully about Him to others or even crying out to Him in distress. If not, it is in vain.

When people do this, they are guilty of not loving God. There are consequences.

Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Also, the Devil knows the power of the name of the Lord. In Jesus name, Satan is cast out. In Jesus name people are healed. We pray to the Father, in the name of His Son. We pray to the Son of God by saying, "Jesus.".

When a person submits to God, resist Satan, then Satan flees. Obedience to God & respecting God scares Satan. Because Satan knows His time is short.

They were raised Catholic. Really. The last time I attended Catholic mass with my mother, a man walked out the back door (right after communion, before the mass was over), and when he found it was snowing he yelled "Jesus Christ!" I think the whole church heard him. That was the last time I set foot in a Catholic church.

Many people believe in Jesus and hold them dear to their heart. So if they want attention in public, the easiest way for them to get it is to swear his name. Plus also people hear other people do it and it grows on them. It's pretty lame. Monkey see monkey do.
