god does or does not exist? No-one can be 100% certain until u r dead, so why do we continually argue over this issue when no-one is right. All we have are our beliefs, and they are not facts.

You are right - there is no way to know the Unknowable until it doesn't matter any more. But some people have had experiences in their lives that help them to believe something profoundly, or feel they have exhausted all other options and logically there is only one answer - one way or the other, they feel certain they are correct.

My guess is that it will turn out that everyone is correct. That whatever it is that you believe, is what is true for you. I think we should all be thinking good, happy thoughts!

Peace!

FACT: I am here.

FACT: There must be a reason why I am here.

FACT: Whether I am here by accident or for a reason - the accident or the reason to me is a creator. Some call that God.

FACT: Love (in all its different forms) - seem only to be present in human beings.

My belief from the facts I have listed is that there is a God, a great artist, the giver of our free will and a brain that has evolved over the centuries to discover, invent and to use all that is here on our home planet earth to use for good or evil.

I chose not to bring religion into my answer because you asked for facts - the Bible is a fact, but can be misinterpreted.

Nothing in life is 100% if you think about it - hang on - one thing - we are all going to die - then there will be either something or nothing. I hope there is something, because I would really like to thank the creator for this beautiful world and for having given me life.

No one person that is alive can prove that God is here, but our belief in His existence keeps us close to Him.Why do we believe if we do not see?

Noah, Moses, Abraham, Isaiah, Paul, etc. all spoke to God and passed the experience of that event onto others in their families and community. While they did not see God, who is a being and not a person, they spoke to Him and He saved each one. Their victories were the will of God and those events were passed down through generations.

Since we did not have tape recorders, cameras or video players 5800 years ago we could not record these events. But like other customs, teachings and events of the past, they were handed down in writing or wall etching or word of mouth.

That is the real reason that we cannot prove His existence. Faith, is believing what the eye cannot see, but the heart CAN perceive.

We argue, regrettably, because religious worldview shapes our political and social behavior. In America, we have a two party system. We all agree on the problems, but the two parties differ greatly on how to solve them. This is primarily because of this difference of worldviews.

What about being convinced "beyond a resonable doubt?" Between the Creationists and Evolutioninsts, objections are lobbed back and forth day and night on Answers, yet how often are people's minds changed? Who was ever saved or gave up religion from posts on Answers?

We all believe what we believe in spite of our own ignorance or agnosis. That is, everyone believes what they believe despite potential objections about things they don't know, can't explain, or will *ever* understand. This is true of both sides. (I just answered a question about pseudepigrapha........ who--besides me--really cares about the pseudepigrapha or the apocrypha???)

So, you have to admit that even though we can never know for sure as you say, we can be convinced beyond a resonable doubt. Our beliefs are forged on facts, (in spite of what the other sides of the debate may believe) and we can exchange our ideas and facts. What we have on Answers' Religion & Spirituality Page is a forum in which we can freely exchange these facts and ideas, as well as opinions, affirmations, and even something funny once in a while.

Sooner or later we realize that we do get through sometimes, but really we're talking to our own sides.....

I just felt philosophical enough to say that.....I hope it was worth something to you.

Peace.

23" 'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." 24 Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" (NIV)

some people believe that their religion and their beliefs are the only way and all that crap, some people have had so many things happen to them that they either believe there is or isn't a god. Me, I believe in my heart of hearts that there is a God, simply because of all the good things that have happened to me, but to be honest, most of the time I'm not even sure if there is one.

Because we are instructed in the Scriptures to be fully persuaded and not to blow in the wind by every doctrine that man brings about, but to only adhere to what has been taught by the apostles of the New Testament and Jesus Christ. How much more assurance does faith require?

When the first astronaut from Russian went to the moon do you think he was absolutely sure he could? or do you think he went with a little bit of faith that his superiors had better know what they were talking about? I suspect he put a lot of faith into what they had told him.

Maybe you don't know for sure but I do. I feel his presence all around me. I felt his presence when my son's were born. I felt his presence when my father died. I can feel him in my heart and soul. I know Christ lives. I can only pray that you do too. I try not to argue with people about his existence in order to know he's real you have to know him, and if people are arguing over whether or not he's real then they don't know him, all I can do is pray for someone like that. I don't know many people who claim to know for sure. That's why everyone is agnostic whether they say it or not. Usually I just tell people I'm atheist, because most people have misconceptions about the true meaning of agnostic and it's easier to just say atheist. But I am actually an agnostic atheist.

Some people are stupid. There's nothing you can do about it. Einstien, who many people consider to be our genius, said, "There are two things that are infinite. One is the universe and two is human stupidity."
