I noticed a crusty, light yellow thing at the edge of his right ear. Sometimes he scratches it like crazy. I tried applying Hydrocortisone cream but it still persists. A few weeks ago, I noticed that the back of this ear was pinkish, and a little sore. Some hairs were also missing. Is it fungal? Or parasitic (mange)?

First of all, you should never use human medicine on pets unless directed by a vet.

Secondly, your best bet here would be to see the vet. Without looking at it, it's hard to suggest options. The back of his ear is probably sore and pink because of the scratching. If the "yellow thing" is still on his ear, or if you notice pus or blood around it, or if it is inflamed, he has an infection and should be taken to the vet for proper treatment.

Sounds like it could be an infected wound, but I'd have to see it. It sounds like it's really persistent. Anything that lasts long enough to say "A few weeks ago" as part of your story deserves a trip to the vet.

I would try some Neosporin...if that does nothing...take him to the Vet or pet co and they might be able to tell you what the yellow thing at the edge of his right ear is???sounds like an infection...but i have not seen it...take care!!!

Uh oh! your cat is infected with serious animal Psoriasis. It itches a lot and gradually all the hair falls off from the affected area and it is contagious too. Shouldn't take it for granted if no medicine is working,it spreads to other areas too.Better show it to a vet. soon.

most likely your cat has mites in his ears.. I would take him to the vet and have him checked out.. the vet will probably give you a cream or some ear drops to kill off the mites.. it's a common thing for cats to have.. but don't make him suffer.. take him to a vet..

She has ear mites call your vet and he will give you some drops and or cream to put in your cats ears because if your cat has it in one ear it will go to the other ear. but she will be fine and you will have a happy baby again. Good luck!

Imeeddiatly take to vet. Give him/her a phone call to know what to do in the meantime. You should try to calm your cat and down and sooth the ear

Could be ear mites. If you allow the cat to keep itching it's ear it could pop veins in the ear and it will fill with blood and require surgery. My cats surgery cost $350.00. It's much cheaper to treat earmites!

I would bet that your cat has ear mites. You need to take him or her to the vet and have them checked. My grandmothers cats get this and they itch for hours on it. If it gets too bad they can have to cut the ear off. Thomas, my grandmothers orange cat, had to have his cut off cause it was so bad, it was cracking and either it was gonna fall off, or get cut off. Please, for the sake of the animal, take it to the vet and get it checked on. I bet its driving it up the wall. I love cats!
