Hi; I am gonna rent a car on Aug with Enterprise; however, since I am only 22 yrs old and which mean I have to pay extra money for the under 25 yrs old fee in CA, so I am wondering to ask one of my friend who is 29 yrs old to rent a car for me. My questions is, if he add the CDW for the car rental, will I be covered if I am the person who actually drive the car on the road? and what price we be add for the CDW?

If you are not listed on the rental agreement as an authorized driver, the coverage will be void. In fact, ALL of the insurance will be void. Actually, the entire rental agreement will be void. If you are stopped by the police for any reason, you would risk being arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

If the rental company allows under 25 operators, you're not going to save any money by having an over 25 sign the rental agreement. The fee will be charged if you are on the contract, regardless of the age of the person who signs the agreement.

If you do what you are proposing, both you and the renter on the contract will be held liable for any damages. Hopefully your friend is not so stupid as to expose themselves to that risk.

As to the cost for the CDW, ask Enterprise. If you already have full coverage auto insurance, it may cover the rental car. Check with your insurance agent.
