For the past several months I have been asking a few questions and responding to a few questions, as well as reading most of the answers to the various quuestions. Obviously many are glib or sarcastic responses, and thats to be expected, however, there appear to be many sincere responders. I dont necessarily agree with most of the Christian apologetics, yet occasionally I see a good response. It is not sincerity I question but rather the lack of study of Scripture, be that as it may be Most of the Atheist response appear to be more or less sarcastic, though a few have attempted to give reasonable answers to the various challenges. Now, my question, has anyone here been persuaded by argument or reasoned answers to change your previous position or belief from reading this forum?

I have met a couple people who have opened my mind even more. And found comfort in the fact that though many of us have different beliefs, we still share the same basic ethics!

No. Most definitely not. Now I've only tried this a few times, but have not been impressed. Some answers are good. A few are very thoughtful. But most are curt sloganeering. Others are just criticisms of grammar and spelling. But a bigger problem is that the medium's not good for convincing people of anything. Most questions are rhetorical. They don't seek answers, they try to make a point. But even if there were to be some real questions and some original, well thought out responses there's no follow up. There's no discourse. There's no dialogue. It's only the opening salvo of a conversation with no opportunity to really check out whether the person knows what he or she is talking about, there's no chance to ask for clarifications or examples. There's no real chance to raise objections and see if those objections can be overcome. So I haven't changed any opinions as a result of what I've read here. Nor am I ever likely to.
Of course there's also the problem of my own biases. Just as you see Atheist answers as primarily sarcastic, I see most Christian answers as rote and non-responsive. But then most answers from anyone aren't really detailed or thought provoking.

We don't know because that is the work of the Holy Spirit. I think Rev. Don stated the us Christians need to pray as we are giving answer so that possibly the Holy Spirit will touch someone to read more. I try to give entire chapters for people to read and follow up on. As a Christian we are told to "be ready to give every man an answer for the hope that lies within us." 1 Peter 3:15. I do wish more of the Christians would study and show themselves approved.(1 Tim 2:15) We have a whole world to testify to and most of us can't even tell where the gospels are. In the New Testament by the way. :-)

I have realized that no-one has the answers, I'm still an atheist, but i know i can never be 100% sure there isn't a god, just like no-one can be 100% sure there is, we just dont have the proof either way. I also learned we try our hardest to wind each other up because we wish to believe our beliefs are superior to everyone Else's, and we do not respond kindly to even the most serious questions if they offend us in the slightest. So i really have changed my opinion more on humanity than i have on religion and i now know why ppl need to believe or disbelieve so much.

i'm getting your factors. No,it would not substitute how i trust about something. My thoughts are my thoughts, and noone will substitute them. i'm an organization believer in how I develop my youthful little ones, and my daughter is popping out tremendous. for a baby it really is six,she has an understanding of issues that maximum moms and dads do not make an attempt to instruct their youthful little ones anymore. They get me aggravated and disillusioned each and every in certain situations besides, and except human beings wanting to conceal at the back of a pc and strive against,i do not see how they could help something. i'm satisfied that some everyone appears to be like getting sturdy out of them i wager, yet i'm an organization believer, and that i continually pay interest to what docs say vs. merely random ppl's reviews on-line. no longer to educate how a lot records they study on-line,which my physician even instructed me develop into completely frequently previous/no longer precise. a number of that is,and that is cool, yet a number of it merely makes no experience!

I was a Christian when i started to do this Q and A thing, however, i have been most impressed with other people's answers. Also, it helped me understand how well i know God. So far, i had no trouble answering any questions :-D.
