Although I haven't seen the show in a while.. I LOVE IT.
I just got my cable back on and I'm looking forward to watching it.
I'm a HUGE boxing fan! I've dated a coupld of professional fighters before but was an avid fan long before they became boxers.

I like it, but as a licensed referee, I have some problems with it.
1. There is NO REASON to allow a waiver of California Athletic Commisison rule 295 and allow the family into the locker room prior to a bout. A boxer doesn't need that sort of thing prior to a bout.
2. It seems to me that sometimes during the fights, a family member will get very close to the ring (for sure, closer than 8 feet, the closest the California Athletic Commission normally allows spectators to get) . This to me consitutes acting as a second without a license (and thust the family member should be fined because seconds must be licensed.). The producers and/or the commission need to put a stop to this AT ONCE. Unlicensed family too close to the ring creates nothing but problems. I speak from experience as a referee, and event inspector for the last three years.

The contender is what may bring boxing back to its glory days. Back in the day people knew everything about these boxers. From there middle name to how many kids they have to there mothers madien name. This made people care about the person as well as the boxer. The contender brings that back. You get to hear about there stuggles, see there family, and watch them succeed. Every has followed Sergio Mora, Peter Manfrado, and Alfonso Gomez since the contender cause the feel like they now them. And they feel like They were there with these boxers before they made it big. Kind of like a family member. Just imagine a couple more years of boxers coming from the contender. People who arent even boxing fans will be following these people. And by doing this everyone will fall back in love with the sport.

It's a great show. I live in London but my friends and I watch it religiously. I love seeing the big talkers get their comeuppance, just like in the first round of the latest series when K9 triumphed. K9 is huge and obviously a great fighter but he looks a little nervous and lacks confidence so i doubt he can go all the way.
