i too have two female dachunds..i love the too..13 is toward the end of a dogs life..i am afraid he may be passing soon..nobody is shure how soon..but just let him live out his "golden years" too the best..and when his time comes it will be hard but you must accept death as a part in the cycle of life..you may want to find a new puppy..that somtimes helps.

Well, I have a 13 yr. old male dachshund too, and he just likes to lay around, and loves affection. I think that the more you love and respect your animal, the longer they will live. I hope my little puppy lives until he's 20!!
Good Luck!

I have a 12-year old and I also love him to death, feels like he is my son. I share your feeling, especially now, I have to work overseas and cannot see him a lot. I hope that he lives long even after I am gone, with someone to take care of him of course. Now we know why parents always love their children more than children love their parents.

We have had people have dachshunds for 20 years! As long as your dog is healthy and active, it can live quite awhile.

He is probably in his last years. Enjoy the time that you have left with him. Spend quality time, do things he enjoys doing, take a lot of pictures and make some special memories.

I had one that lived for 17 years. My father bought him for me when I was thirteen years old, and believe it or not I was thirty when he passed away. You are going to have your pet for a few more years, so don't worry.

Not much longer, he is on the downslope. That breed of dog does not have a high life expectancy.
