Dogs are smarter and have been around people far longer than cats. As a result, dogs can make more sounds than cats. Another example is how easily you can train your dog but your cat is rather useless. Certainly cats are clever but dogs are smarter.

EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DAILY DIARY:

Day 683 of My Captivity:

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed
hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomited on the floor.

Today I decapitated a mouse (bat) and dropped its headless body at their
feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it
clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made
condescending comments about what a ''good little hunter'' I am. The
audacity!!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was
placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to my power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this
again tomorrow-- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released--and he seems more than willing to return! He is obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an
informant-- I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. The captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe--for now. But I can wait. It is only a matter of time!

Hmmm, let's see...cats sleep 18 or more hours a day. They crap and piss in a box and have us humans clean it up. Their biggest concerns are whether or not their humans are going to fill up their bowl with more food and where is a good place to curl up for a nap. They only want attention from humans when they deem it appropropriate. Occassionally their humans buy them stupid toys like fake mice and pouches of kitty drugs so they can get high (legally). I think cats are far smarter than dogs. =)

Dogs are smarter than cats. Dogs are much better too. They will love you and be there for you. Cats just sleep all the time.

Of course cats are smarter than dogs! Cats move into our homes, make themselves at home, 'earn their keep' by keeping out 'vermin' (sometimes) and don't require walking to use the "bathroom"!!! I'd rather have a conversation with a cat (yes, they answer with meows and body language) than with a dog which is slobbering all over me, and expecting me to "take him for a walk". Walk yourself, stupid!!!

many ppl say cats r smarter than dogs but i think they r equal, cuz a cat could find it's way home but so can a dog. but a dog can sniff for drugs or smell fear, but a cat can't do that now can it? thats why u c cops with dogs all the time not cats... right?

I wouldnt say either animal is smarter then the other..Cats are independant animals they usually do what they want when they want. as for dogs they are dependant on us humans usually they will do anything to make us happy wich is why they say they are "mans best friend" I have had many "smart" cats that have done things that dogs are trained to do but they were never taught to do them. cats are easier to potty train then dogs are. were as dogs are easier to train to do tricks so to me its a " horse a peice" in wich animal is "smarter".

I don't know about smarter, but the are definitely sneakier! I always heard that a cat considers a person just a warm piece of furniture.

Cats are generally more smarter than dogs..

Dogs are more obedient.... but more gullible, hence being not smart enough to think for itself.

Anyway why else do you think the old Egyptian empires used to worship cats/felines !
