Okay take this question w/a grain of salt. Why do peeps need to brag up about how long they've hunted or how long they've been doing something in regards to this subject? Is it to appear like the "Great White Hunter" when you're bellied up to the bar you talk obnoxiously loud so people that don't care can hear?

Or do you think that typing a certain number of years experience will somehow authenticate what you're saying as if a complete stranger would believe it anyways?

Just wondering, U know not everybody is 100% honest!

I hunt pheasant, shotgun deer, rabbit, coyote, and squirrel. My friend has a furbearer's license and nothing but the guts of the animal are wasted.

It's obvious to me that you are not a hunter, and trust me that's cool. But let me try to explain. Although is seems like bragging in most cases it's not. Do you have anything that you are so passionate about that anytime someone brings up the subject you want to jump in and talk about it? It's not bragging, it's the desire to share your experiences with your brotherin, and trust me they want to hear it from you. Every true hunter relives their finest days in the stories of each other. We want to hear about your successes and your failures. We don't laugh at anothers failure we remeber when the same thing happened to us and assure them that better days lie ahead. Hunting is all about experience, the more time you spend in the field the more you know. When I say I've been hunting for 24 years, I'm not bragging, I'm letting my fellow hunter know that I've made alot of mistakes and I might be able to offer advice to someone who has yet to make it. If you truely love something, and I mean eat, drink, and breath it you may understand. I do not consider myself to be a great white hunter, but my wife (who has been hunting 5 years) thinks that I am. She knows that I love to teach others. She has seen me give up entire seasons of my own time to mentor a nephew, and pass on my passion. To the Anti's I hope you all understand the majority of hunters are not about the kill, we are about living free the way nature intended it since the dawn of time.
Thanks and have a great day

This is the truth. Down here in the south we load our dogs in our trucks then wee go turn them out on a deer and shoot the hell out of it when it comes running through the woods. Then we go back to camp and drink some beer ,cook some steaks, and fellowship about the days hunt. We stay up till 1am playing poker and shooting the bull then get up at 3am and do it again. That is how we go about hunting but there is other ways.

I agree with Barry M... You won't get it until you try it... OR find something you're as passionate about. Take football for example, if you've played it and you over hear some guy at a bar telling war stories on the gridiron, it takes you back and gets your blood flowing like crazy, and maybe you share your stories with him..

Same thing with cars, motorcycles...When I see a fellow hunter or car-buff or motorcycle-buff I talk to them about the passion we both share.. to a person that doesn't understand those things, their perception is different.

Hunting is a totlly selfish activity. It rapes nature. Fishing, on the other hand is wonderful. You are at one with nature and always have the option of returning the fish to it's environment.

Hunting is a way of life, it's not just a hobby or pastime.
