Ok this really is not an answer but thank you for the links it really opened my eyes.
I am an ex Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but left the church before I ever had to go through the temple stuff ( I did baptisms for the dead as a teen and thought that was bad enough) People always tell me the Church is a cult but I never believed them. I just thought it was a Church with really messed up beliefs I thought you could be a Christian and a Mormon at the same time. (I am not sure now)

After checking out your links I realize that messed up is only the half of it. The Church is very much a Cult and very Pagan. The thing that always bothered me the most about the Church (other that the way people treated me like I was trash for ever questioning anything; They would get to gether and tell me how wrong and evil I was for hours and I had no choice but to set there and listen to it I was only a young child; and the molestations that go on) was how ritualistic some parts of it are. I never knew about the secret hand shakes and stuff. I quite frankly wonder if any of the others that have answered the questions followed the links. Most are probably children that have never been through the Temple.

Even though I am a Christian (Baptist to be exact) I still worry about bad things happening because I looked at the sights. Freaky that they still make me feel that way years later.

My parent always wore the underwear Garments). I never knew about the symbols on them. I also always believed they were just to help them be modest.

Oh well thank you very much I will keep praying that my family will see the truth.
Sorry spell check is not working.

My best friend is a member of the LDS church, has been all her life and I've known her for more than 20 years. I can honestly say she has NEVER said anything to me about secret handshakes or secret names. The undergarments, yes, but never magical and temple rituals, well doesn't EVERY religion have ritualistic tendancies?

I'm Catholic and we have Communion, that's a ritual...we have Confession and that's a ritual as well...why should anything 'different' be construed as a ritual?

I'm so damn tired of listening to people go on and on about Mormons like they were a disease. They are PEOPLE, just like you and me.

Why not poke fun at the Scientoligists?? That's not even a real religion. It was founded by L. Ron Hubbard and some friends as a SCIENTIFIC experiement to see if people would join....well...((ahem)) Tom Cruise, you sure have a beautiful baby...oh yeah, we haven't seen it yet! Imagine that...he fixed his sterility with all the brouhaha founded by the Church of Scientology...yeah, now there's a SECRET for you!

Every religion has rituals. If you really want to find out about them, you can do it the way I did. Join the church, be a faithful member and find out. They aren't secret, they are sacred. As for garments, every religion has special clothing. Maybe in yours, only the pastor, minister, rabbi, wears it. The garments remind us of covenants we've made to try to live a righteous life. Just like how most Christians were crosses (or used to, now it's mostly a fashion statement).

You obviously know about all the things you asked about, so why did you ask?

I would invite you to look up the definition of "secret" The things we do in the temple are sacred rituals, and anyone can receive them, when they are ready, worthy, and prepared. Just because we don't blather about certain things does not make them secret, or dark, or evil. These things are meant to bring light and truth, and they do to those who are prepared. Forgive us for not wearing everything on our sleeves. We are damned if we do and damned if we don't. If we reveal those things, we'd be mocked, we don't reveal those things, we are mocked. One more thing, if it's such a big secret, then why have you just provided 4 websites that contain stuff about the rituals in this question?

well good luck with that. just like the first person who answered for you, they will always deny everything. Faith in what I wonder. It is so funny that we non Mormons make this stuff up and it is propaganda yet we found it in their books, hmmmmm. sounds like denial.
Just never mind is my advise. you will not get anyone to be honest or even say well I don't know but I will look into it and get back with you, or I have never seen that, doesn't sound right though.
forget it. they will never tell you.
