The iPod Nano comes in three specs: 1 GB (240 songs), 2 GB (500 songs) and 4 GB (1000 songs). The estimate on the number of songs each one holds is based on music files that have a 128-160 kb/s bitrate and roughly 4 minutes each.

if you knew anything about an ipod you would know. It depends on the the gb it can hold. It will say it on the back. a 2gb holds 500 songs at the least. A 4 gb holds 100. Anything more than the limit is not guaranteed. Other things apply such as whether you have photos on it or not.
