The christian book the bible has no mention of a trinity. It's a pagen idea the catholics added later, along with the mary/virgin hocus pocus. You can be a christian and not believe any of the bull added later. Christian means follower of christ, not ghosts and what have you. Better still, become an athiest and see the world the way it really is. Beautiful

Take it one step at a time, Brother. Don't "miss the forest for the trees" either! Christianity is simply believing that the only way to the Father is through Jesus Christ. God made this thing simple, Brother. Mankind came up with all this "denominations". Look up the definition of "denomination"--it means division. You may not believe in the trinity, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You will understand it as You study. I always give the example of water--it can be solid in the form of ice, a vapor, or a liquid, but it's all still water!! You WILL be awestruck at how Jesus taught. He said in John 10:27 How "they will know my voice". I recommend getting You a good study Bible...You'll LOVE it!! Again, don't make it difficult, and get caught up in the whole "denomination" thing. I go to a Baptist church, but I'm still a Christian just like a Pentecostal! It's all about CHRIST!! God be with You

I wish you luck on your search! I used to be a devout Catholic, then Christian, now not sure what.

Anyhow, Catholism and mainstream Protestant religions will believe in the trinity. You'll have to go more fundamentalist or bible to go for non-trinity - I know for certain Jehova's Witness doesn't believe in that per se but really can't say all. I would agree with last post and not the one before - how do you live your life? The fundamentalists will disagree and quote Paul about simply having faith, but I'd recommend reading James chapter 2 at the end of your bible. Show you're a christian by your works and not being a hypocrite - the rest is details.

The Trinity is a very important doctrine of the bible. I know that it does not make much sense to you and the word TRINITY is not found in the bible but I want you to check out if the bible talks about these things.

1) There is only 1 God.
2) God the Father is God
3) Jesus Christ is God
4) The Holy Spirit is God
5) God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit have communication with one another. That is to say, that they are not one God in different forms at different times. The Trinity talks about 3 distinict persons in the Godhead.

I am not going to quote passages although I have all of them. I want you to check it out for yourself and if you can find proof of the above 5 points, you have found the reason why Christians believe in the Trinity.

God Bless you!

I recommend you look into www.beliefnet.com or use the Wikipedia Christianity portal to research different Christian beliefs, or talk to a Christian friend.
Also, the Trinity isn't what a lot of Muslims think it is. It doesn't mean that Christians worship 3 gods, instead its just 3 different parts of the same God.
But I believe that Assemblies of God and Church of Christ, Baptists, and Pentacostals don't believe in the Trinity much at all, whereas Catholics, Episcopalians, Presbyterians, and Lutherans do, if I'm not mistaken, but corrent me if I'm wrong.

You don't have to have a trinity to be have christianity - Thats only in Catholism and denominations close to it. In many non denominational and protestant sects there isn't a trinity.

Why do you want to be a Christian? (I am not putting Christianity down, but you need to know why YOU want to become one) I suggest attending a variety of chuches and seeing one you feel the most comfortable with.

Maybe you should look into non-Christian religions too.

Best of luck!!!

I have yet to visit a church that "worships" the trinity.

We believe that GOD is three in one, but do not worship him as three separate beings.

GOD is infinite and we only understand finite things.

I suggest you read the bible and study about the trinity before you make up your mind on something so important. Go into the study with your beliefs intact and if nothing else, just listen and learn where in the bible that we see GOD in the triune.

Even if you still hold fast in your original thoughts, you will have learned why others hold fast to theirs.

I love learning about other ways of worship and religions and do not find myself believing that theirs ways are correct, but I do gain an understanding of why they believe the way they do.

Well that is the basis of Christianity. I do not know if you can find one that doesn't believe in it. Well, there is the Mormon religion but it is not Christian. they say they are but they actually believe in mutable Gods. I would not recommend it but if that is what you are looking for that is the only one that I know who agrees with your beliefs.
Read John. it explains what the Trinity means. It is much like a egg, there is the shell, the white and the yolk. they are all part of the egg but three different parts that do three different things. Hope that helps.

I would suggest that you get yourself a Bible and read it first. The denomination is not as important as discovering God's Truth through His own Word. Start reading in the New Testament. I would also recommend your going to a local Bible study. You might also order C.S. Lewis's book, "Mere Christianity", as it will explain a lot of stuff you might want to know. He used to be an atheist at one time. You should be able to get a cheap used copy on half.com or Amazon. Also, pray and ask God to show you if He is real and to help you find Truth and meaning through His Word. He will do it, if you ask. Seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you... The United Pentecostal Church believes in the Oneness doctrine.

Why do you not accept the doctrine of the Trinity? It is one of the most common doctrines among Christians, past and present.

The Trinity states that there are three co-existant Persons who are all God, who is one.

The Oneness doctrine states that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are all one, e.g. God is Jesus, the Holy Spirit is Jesus, etc.. It's a really confusing doctrine, but they still believe in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They view the Trinity as a polytheistic doctrine.
