Cure
Use dental floss to remove trapped food bits. Or rinse with warm salt water.
Suck on an ice cube to numb your gums or put a cold pack on your jaw.
If cold doesn't work, try heat. Put a hot compress on your jaw, and rinse your mouth with warm water.
Put a wet tea bag on a sore gum for 30 minutes to ease soreness or to stop bleeding.
Put oil of cloves on an aching tooth with a cotton swab every 20 minutes for pain.
Make a temporary filling for a lost or broken tooth with an over- the counter products.
Take an over the counter pain reliever in case of too much pain (don't take aspirin as it can increase bleeding).
Need of Home remedies for Toothache
If you have any symptoms of an abscess.
If your toothache lasts for more than a day or two.
If you have throbbing pain, or if heat, cold or pressure makes the tooth hurt.
If you have swollen red and painful gums. .

So what can you do right now to get some relief while you consider your options?
If a filling has fallen out, you can buy a tube of temporary tooth filling material from the drugstore. First anesthetize the tooth with 3 drips of Clove Bud Oil (natural source of eugenol). Wait 5 minutes. Follow with a natural antibiotic like Colloidal Silver or Liquid Propolis Extract . Put in 3 drops of one or both in the hole. Wait five more minutes. Then cover the hole with the temporary filling material, following the instructions on the package. Remember this is a temporary fix until you get a real filling. Avoid any mercury fillings, insist on a resin or acrylic filling or else you will have a constant source of mercury poisoning your body from now on. Trust me on this matter.

If a crown has come half way off, try to remove it before you choke on it, or swallow it. There is a special adhesive found at the drug store made just for crowns. It is naturally not as permanent as the kind used by dentists, but at least it will fix you up in a pinch. (I always put a tube of this in my bag when I travel. It saved me on a trip that I was scheduled to speak before the American Botanical Council on endangered plants in Brazil.)

If you don’t know what is wrong, go to the drug store and buy one of those little kits that contain a dental mirror and a small stainless steel toothpick. One of my customers came in complaining and went home with one of these little kits. The mirror showed her that she had a popcorn kernel barely showing above the gum line. She carefully lifted it out and applied propolis to the site (3 x daily for 3 days) and the problem was cleared up completely in 4 days. Her gum was really swollen and hurting. Dental floss didn’t fix it… in fact it was very painful to floss.

Also, when I had a bad toothache and didn't have insurance, I lived on benadryl cold and flu capsules. It kept the pain bearable.

Try flossing around the tooth to relieve pressure. Take an over the counter sinus medication (tylenol sinus except buy the store brand ,compare the ingredients on the package). Any congestion in the sinus cavities will make the toothache worse. Rinse the mouth with warm salt water after flossing. If there is a cavity you can get temparin by Dentek at Walgreens or Walmart etc.. Use maximum strength anbesol in the cavity first before using the temparin. If there is no cavity, just swelling ,then the antibiotics, sinus pills, rinse and flossing should help it will just take time. If he gets worse or starts running a fever or you see signs of infection then he needs to contact a free health clinic and get the tooth removed. Check with the salvation army or st vincent de paul in your area to find out of any programs that they might have or know of in regards to free or reduced rate dental care.

If you can find the clove oil it works but tastes horrible. I would try walmart or maybe meijer. I know this is gonna sound crazy but my husband had trouble like this for about a year before we finally saved enough money to have them pulled and he swore by NyQuil. He would swish it around in his mouth let it get into the tooth and then swallow it . The NyQuil actually helped him sleep too on the nights when it was really bad. I know this sounds stupid but it is all that i have to offer. sorry i could not be of anymore help.

It sounds like he has an abscessed tooth. Nothing is going to help the pain until the infection is under control. Make sure he takes his antibiotics. Once the infection starts to die down the pain killers will help. GO TO THE DENTIST!!! A good dentist can help much more than an emergency room doctor.

Try some Advil with the pain killer not to much.I found that Advil up two four does the best for tooth pain. Also your antibiotics may not click with him.The antibiotics is suppose to get rid of the infection it takes two days at the least for the pain to go down.If my antibiotics dint work I always ask other family members if they have any to spare. Some of use are wired differently and certain pills don't work.

You can use whole cloves, and bite down on them with the affected tooth. Get at grocery store.
Really though, you should go to an emergency dentist. This happened to me, and 2 of my teeth were so badly infected I had to have them removed.

Mutual Drug Store chain perhaps sells oil of cloves. Otherwise I suggest a cap full of Jim Beam. I swear it works. Hold the liquor over the tooth as long as you can. You can either spit it out of swallow it, your choice. Another but illegal suggestion is a joint, it too works and does a better job of staving off the pain.

this sounds weird but i swear by it, get a qtip and dip it in some whiskey and rub it around the tooth and gum area and it will numb it up real good and no you cant get drunk like that, but i highly recommend it and you can get oil of cloves at any natural food stores, maybe even GNC
