Speaking from experience you should really think hard about dying your hair a darker color. If your hair is blond it will take color for much longer than naturally darker colors. If you dye your hair darker, you will have lighter roots within 2 weeks and will have to continue to dye it or it will look ridiculous!! You also may not like it, and it's really hard to get rid of a darker color than you think! I once dyed my naturally blond hair deep red and I had to get a treatment at a salon (over 80 bucks...mom was pissed!) and it turned orange! Plus, my hair was like straw for almost a year! It doesn't matter if a specialist dyes your hair. That won't make it easier to reverse if you don't like it.

I would look into maybe a foil or highlight, but if you want to go darker, see if you can do darker underneath and do low lights. That way you won't have as much regrowth and have to keep dying it. Your mom may be okay with a low light or a darker dye underneath because it won't be as extreme.

Don't start dying all your hair now! It's really expensive to keep up without looking silly! Why not enhance the color you have and still get a darker effect? I hope this helps!

That is so freaky because I also too have Dirty Blonde hair and 13 and really want to get it dyed Brown or Black or some other color because I hate it. I don't understand why some parents wouldn't want to give everything in their power to a child if it were to boost their child's confidence?! If you find a good reason tell me because I really want to talk my mom into it!!!!
GOOD LUCK!

Why don't you first try to get a temporary color put in to see if you like it. They wash out in 8 to 10 washes. I'm sure your mom would go for that.

Tell her that at least if you go to a specialist, it is gaurenteed not to be screwed up, because you could always just do it yourself, and who knows what color it may turn out to be.

do it yourself and when it looks awful, she'll probably let you go to a specialist to get it fixed. just don't ruin your hair!!!
