Why is there so much baby slaughter in the bible?

This is the all knowing divine being, right? made the millions of galaxies, trillions of stars in the universe......
Why, under God's watch and/or at his bidding was there so much small children killing?, he seemed to like to tell much of this baby slaughtering in the book he wrote......
He liked mass animal slaughter for his sake too, it describes just how he liked them killed and how the blood was to be sprinkled around just so in the book he wrote.
Why was our all knowing all powerful God so into animal and baby slaughter?

He doesn't always kill all the babies, only the ones that are male. In Numbers 31, he gets Moses to have all the girl children saved as sex slaves while killing all the boys. Ain't Gawd wonderful?

I'm not a Bible expert but I belive only one time did God order the execution of a child. That one time he interupted before it could take place.

In answer to your question historically. The world was a brutal place until recent times. Genocide was the norm not an abhored exception. Whole people's were elimanated off the face of the earth at times. Remember ancient people were not stupid. Only barbaric. So you want to expand your people into a crowded region the logical way would be to slowly pare off the enemies people in such a way that did not provoke open resistance thus weakening your people to the constant enemies around you. So for an enslaved nation slaughter of children is an economic way of doing this. The slave workforce stays working. The future population of that group is reduced and so too is the food demands on the area. Not exactly humane but logical to somebody who has no value for human life.

As for the animals? Dunno. That was a common Old Testament thing. Most likely it was a tolerated practice from pre-Jewish times that worked it's way into Jewish lore and custom before finally phasing out. Remember almost all primitive religions practiced sacrafices. The Aztecs were avid practicioners of human sacrafice. The Celts were as well. One of the greatest insights into Celtic life happened when they dug up a Dane sacraficed by Druids long before the Roman empire put an end to the Celtic empire. Several sacraficial victems were dug up from an ancient pete bog. One in particuler was quite wealthy and thus being an unusual sacrafice choice.

Many other cultures have practiced human sacrafice and nearly all can trace to a time when animal sacrafice was practiced. To us this sounds like an abomination. Remember society has evolved over the years. Just 100 years ago great family entertainment was to go watch a public execution. Today we complain about virtual violence in video games and on TV.

God understands war. If you let the enemies children live they will grow up to kill yours. We can look at the Palestinian situation to see that the Israeli's will never be free because they aren't willing to destroy everything and therefore they grow up and the cycle perpetuates itself all over again.

God ordered most of the murders. That's why if the Judeo-Christian God existed, I would rather go to hell. If you read the Bible and see what God did, and what Satan did, Satan seems a lot more moral.
