I have tried dove, silk, neutrogena, aussie, matrix, samy, pantene, citrus, etc and I have yet to find a product that actually adds volume to my hair! My hair is so straight and flat its disgusting! I have also tried the whole aspirin thing (it works but if i keep using it my hair is gonna get so messed up). Has anyone else tried something that actually works!?? HELP ME!

I have your exact problem and i have wasted so much money trying SO many products that don't really work. But i've finally found some that really do work: When i was living in Europe last year I was using Sunsilk root boost but they don't sell the root boost in america/canada (they just recently got Sunsilk, but not the whole line) so then I found something that works exactly like it (and has the same nozzle shape), and it's cheap too so you don't have to spend bloody $20 for a volumizer, it's less that 2 dollars US, Suave Root Lifter (in a turquoise spray can), you spray it on the roots of DRY hair (then I rub it in to spread it around). I also use Fructis Body and Volume spray leave-in treatment (in a round spray bottle) $5, on my wet hair before i blowdry. Make sure you blowdry your roots in an upward and back direction.

I know how you feel I too have fine hair. I've tried all those and more professional brands, but did you realize that when you use a volumizer you strip the hair of natural oils. Stay away from products with these ingredients, Sodium Laureth/Laural Sulfate, quaternium 15, alcohol, mineral oil these aren't good for the hair or scalp.

When and if you use conditioner use only on the part of your hair that can fit in a pony tail. If you put on your scalp it weighs hair down.

What I do and I'm not sure if this will help or not.

- I trim my hair every time I start seeing or feeling split ends.
- Don't wrap hair in towel it makes frizzy hair.
- Use a wide tooth comb and start at the ends of the hair and work your way up to the scalp.
- Sometimes I wear my hair up til the next day and the bend in the pony tail gives volume for when I do wear it down.
- Sometimes at night, with wet hair, I braid, twist hair or put in soft rollers and take it out the next day after I have gotten dressed and it's the last thing I do to get ready.
- Use lightweight products, heavy gels, wax, pomades can weigh hair down too.
- Don't use shampoo and conditioners in one, remember the conditioner rule.

** If your into drying your hair use a diffuser just don't dry all the way, use volumizing products but don't use too much.

Here are some products I found, but haven't used yet....

I personally like Paul Mitchell's Root Boost. Spray a bit at the roots and a little all over and blow dry. Sebastian's Body Double line is GREAT! but it's pricey. It has a treatement that actually does make your hair fuller and lasts about a week. If you can find a salon that carries it and has the sample kit with the Shampoo, cond, and treatments in it-BUY IT!

I feel for you-I'm in the same boat and I'm a stylist. I've found those products work for me and for some of my clients like, me, but you'll have to try them out to see what works best for you and your hair.

Use Sunsilk anti-flat shampoo (the orange one) and conditoner it really works because I got my hair thinned and it became to thin! But also blow-dry your hair with garnier fructis volumizing mousse after you get out of the shower.
