purple because it's a very soft and beautiful color.

Any color you like is fine. It certainly does not have to be pink. Have you picked out a crib set yet. Choose a favorite color that will compliment it. If you want girlish, but not pink, go with a light peach or apricot. A soft buttery yellow is also soothing and feminine. Sherwin Williams carries a line of paints called "Illuminescent".. They are clear and crisp, not muddy like some colors. I've used Dollop of Cream, French Vanilla, and Violet Chateau of those. That's another good color for a girl: a soft lilac or violet. Congratulations on the soon to be arrival of the "love of your life". Have you chosen a name yet?

Why dont you try this paint the room an off white or candlelight white okay, then you take pink paint and put it about half the way up as a border. Then you get stencils of like butterflies, or really whatever you want and put the under the pink border. It will look so pretty. And she can grow with it. If she doesnt want the pink when she is older all you have to do is paint over a little border.

I went with an outdoor theme for my baby. Green carpet, rolling green hills, (soft green pastel) powder blue for the sky with puffy clouds on upper walls and ceiling. Tree on one wall. Rainbow on another. Found a ceiling fan with primary colors and it went well with the rainbow. Ties in well with stick ons you can buy at building supply stores. We went with Winnie the Poo and it looked like Tigger was jumpin around the room. One draw back is the kid can eventually peel the stickers off the wall. But you have a while before that happens. Even added glow in the dark stars later on and their cool. Can't even see them by day on the clouds. It is a tranquil room though and when we had a boy after it helped. He wants a Nemo room and I was thinkin about puttin sea blue over the hills and just goin with it. Congratulations!

pale yellow. orange. I dont know. How about that netting stuff from Ikea around the windows, and some twinkling lights. Go monochramatic so you have many shades of one color, or mix everything up. We thought we were having a boy, so the walls are khaki/tan kind of, white furniture, and "boyish" teddy bears on the walls and stuffed bears all around. (boyish i mean in little coveralls) Well I had a girl. So I put that netting up from ikea around the windows, some girly bears, hung some pretty lights from the ceiling, got a pretty mat by the crib - it looks very nice.

go for a theme color such as Mickey/Minnie mouse or Winnie the Pooh. Both have lots of colors in then. Pale tan or yellow background and decels of characters. Then accessorize room with matching lamps .light switch covers, bedding etc

I think you could do a vertical stripe pattern. You could choose two colors such as pink and green, lilac and white, yellow and white ect. This is a really cute look!
(The link below is an example of what it looks like)

Even though babies initially see in primary colors, you want something that will carry her at least for a couple of years, right? A pale yellow, lavender, pink (pastels in general are really good). You can always paint a mural on one wall, too.

the first color babies see are red, then green if I'm not mistaken, then the rest, but red is the first they see so a dark pink she'll be able to see sooner than a lighter one, but at the end it won't make a difference how soon she sees it, by the time she knows what's going on she'll be able to see all colors, I'd do a light pink with dark pink details

a family of violet can be a girlie color: lilac, lavender or purple. combine those with pearly white accents or darker shades of the color you choose, even a dash of pink. WOW!
