ok so im suppose to be getting braces pretty soon and im not really sure if i want to get them because i have a huge gap in between my two front teeth ( and i mean grand canyon kind of huge!) and so i was wondering if when i get the braces will there be like a wire that streaches from one tooth to the next because if there is then i don't want to get them! And yea i know i should ask my doctor but i haven't been to him/her and don't know when i'll see him/her so to save myself a trip i rather start here. and no my parents don't know what they'll look like either. Thanx!

your cheeks will NOT swell up & I have braces, trust me...the wires are very thin so u won't notice them...If u r worried about its appearance, get the invisible ones...but it'll cost u a bit more

As you have suggested since the gap between your teeth is large you might be advised to use the conventional braces.
The other sort of braces which looks like a wire is mainly use for minor teeth adjustments.
You won't look very different with braces unless you keep your mouth open for most times.
I would say go for braces coz that would mean you will have a better you, in the future.

No, your cheeks will not get swollen. It does have a wire linking from tooth to tooth but the wires are so thin from like two steps away you can't even notice their there. It will hurt in the beginning because you have to get spacers but then when they put the real braces on you teeth just feel tight but the pain last for only 2 days or at least with me it did.

Yes, there will be a wire, but when I had braces my front teeth moved so fast (a few days) that it wasn't a big deal. After all your teeth are in place they will leave your braces on for a while to get your gums used to the new positions. Just do it. You'll be glad you did.
