I'm thinking about redoing my basement, like cleaning it up and stuff. But water comes down there sometimes when it rains. All I really want in there is a couch, some furniture, & a tv. What could I do to redo it for cheap, and make it so no water would get in.

IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD WANT TO FIND OUT WHERE THE WATER IS GETTING IN. THAT MAY NOT BE THE 'CHEAP' YOU'RE LOOKING FOR BUT IN THE END A LOT OF WATER DAMAGE WILL COST BIG MONEY. IT MAY NOT BE AS SIMPLE AS JUST 'MAKING IT SO NO WATER GETS IN.' OTHERWISE, I THINK YOU HAVE ALREADY SOLVED YOUR OWN PROBLEM. YOU SEEM TO KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, IT'S JUST A MATTER OF CHOOSING YOUR COLORS, ETC. A NEW PAINT JOB CAN DO WONDERS AND SO CAN A LITTLE NEW ART WORK FOR 'CHEAP.' IF YOU SOLVE THE WATER ISSUE AN AREA RUG MIGHT BE NICE FOR YOU. WALLY WORLD AND SHOP-KO HAVE NICE ONES, REASONABLY. IF YOU HAVE A HOBBY LOBBY THEY ARE GREAT FOR HAVING A LOT OF STUFF AT HALF PRICE. SOMETIMES YOU MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT FOR CERTAIN THINGS TO COME ON SALE BUT IT'S WORTH IT. I HOPE MY IDEAS GIVE YOU SOME. HAVE FUN!

Get a blow up couch and that way the water /dmapnes wont ruin it. make sure everything is sealed up well. If there are any leaky spots, caulk them up. Start by clearing out all the junk- get rid of it and store what you want to keep in neat tubs or containers. Clean the ceiling, walls and floor. MAybe you have a n old rug you can lay down in there or if the floor is cement, maybe you could paint it a bright color to make the room not so basement-ish. Try to use bright colors to make it less depressing and stuffy. You could turn it into a bar/gameroom. Look around your house for funky stuff you could use down their. Get a dartboard, some old signs, etc. Old junk will look cute if you use it to decorate with. GOt a pile of fishing poles? Hang them on the wall as decoration while they are not being used? Christmas lights- hang 'em up! Use whatever you have and just be creative!

First get the water leak or leaks fixed as they could cause structural damage, let alone the mold damage. Maybe a sidewalk around the perimeter around the portion of the house that the basement is could help turn the water away.

Paint is usually one of the cheapest ways to change the appearance and fresh-in up a room. You may look into paneling the walls.

You seriously need to have the basement water-proofed before you put any furniture in there. I am not sure how expensive that is or if you can do it. I am considering water-proofing my basement as well, but there's not any furniture downstairs yet. If you don't water proof it, you will be plagued by mold problems and those are just plain nasty.

make sure you have eve traufs (spelling) so that water is running away from the home. might help keep water from getting into basement.
then you might need some type of sealer in the basement to keep water out where ever its getting in.
im not a pro but thats where i would start.
as for finishing it for cheap......i dont knw how cheap you mean. but when you get into remodeling you always run into something and something and something else. good luck

i've got got here across some very super much less high priced fixtures at backyard revenues and 2d-hand shops. or you need to examine into community overstock warehouses: some weeks in the past my husband and that i've got been given an incredible little e book shelf from vast plenty for roughly 20.00.
