I will be moving into me new house in about 2 months and are trying to some up with a theme for my room. I decided on a hawaiian theme room. Does anyone have any creative ideas for wall decor, bedspreads, etc. Even websites with hawaiian stuff would help!

Bamboo is great for tropical decorating, I think. You can get bamboo shades, bamboo floor mats, etc. I work in a greenhouse where we sell twig screens that would also work as a wall covering, or even a headboard for your bed. The bamboo window shades could also be modified for a headboard. If you're "crafty" at all, a bamboo lampshade or a lacy basket covering for a ceiling light could be cool.
A web search would put you in contact with fabric stores which specialize in tropical print fabrics...I have a thing for retro Hawaiian prints like you would see in old Five-O reruns. You could go with sedate colors, like the retro patterns, or with really bright patterns. Depending on how much tolerance you have for visual chaos, a print for pillow shams or a bedspread might be enough of that sort of thing.
Another idea could be a surfer-girl theme. We're doing something like this for my 12 year old's room this summer. Cool blue, teal and chocolate brown. There are some really nice string curtains in these colors at Bed, Bath & Beyond, I think. I'm thinking these colors will hold up well for her over the next several years.

As much as I hate theme rooms, this sounds like a fun project. There have been a lot of great suggestions here so far.

I like the bamboo and reed mat suggestions. How about taking that one step farther and combining the elements? You can purchase split bamboo and reed mats. Using the reed mats on the top 2/3 of the wall, and making a bamboo chair rail would be a more modern take on the theme.

Christopher Lowell did a beautiful jungle bedroom several years ago, but I haven't been able to find the link to it since they took his page off of the Discovery Channel web-site. However, the doors for the room and instructions on making them can be found here: http://christopherlowell.com/demo.php?id=30

Tikis are a good start, but think luau in a big way. Consider using reed mats as a wall covering. Suspend salvaged fishing net from the ceiling with random commercial floats in the netting. Include lush houseplants, especially palm-looking dracena and orchids. Hang a ukulele, masks, or a shield on the wall like the kind you find at Pier One Imports or Cost Plus. Put on a Don Ho record.

Consider rattan furniture designed for the indoors and lighting with a torch-like quality. Use tropical print upholstery, drapes, and linens. Incorporate the clear, vibrant colors of the tropics. Use bamboo and woods.

It's the Tiki Room at Disneyland. The music alone ought to inspire you.

I just redecorated my room with the hawaiian theme myself! :) I went to Hobby Lobby and bought hula skirts and put those across the top of my windows, and then I also got seashells (I got mine from the actual beach, but you can buy 'em too!) and I attached those to the frame of my bulletin/wipe off board (it turned out cute!) I just left my bedspread a plain, bright orange color. The color theme of my room is: bright yellow walls, bright orange, magenta pink, and lime green accessories! Personally, I love it! :) Another thing: I share my room with my cat, so I made her a "Kitty Kabana" out of an umbrella. There for awhile Hobby Lobby had paper umbrellas, and I took one and stuck it down into a bamboo pole, and attached it to a piece of wood. Then I just took a towel and wrapped it around the bottom like a beach towel, added some rafia to the top so that you couldn't see where the umbrella and the bamboo pole met, and it turned out pretty cute! Hope this helps some! :)

Get some of that crepe paper roll in different colors. Then, take pineapple skins, wash them, let them dry for a few days then paste them in cardboards. Then buy one big styrofoam board and design a surf board out of it. With the crepe paper make string hoolas (different colors) and put next to all in the walls. Buy a printed shirt at a five and dime or a Good Will or even at garage sales and hang along with the rest in the walls.

At least, that's a start. Good luck!

aloha, try local.com hit either oahu or honolulu subs and you will find hawaiian stuffs for cheap. Also, look for fabrics in reds, greens, teals, or fuschia that feature plumeria and or hibiscus flowers on it...geccos surfboards palm trees(not too many) will give your room authentic aloha spirit. Please, skip the tikis and the coconut bra/grass skirt thing. Even us kama'aina laugh at that! A surfboard rug is a cute add-on. Aloha.

is a link to a cute bedpread from JCPenny.

Go to: www.orientaltradincompany.com an dget some raffia to use as a bedskirt. They also have a limbo set that would be cute. They have lots of stuff you could use and they are very cheap! I woudl suggest finding a fake parrot on a swing like in Mexican food restaurants or in Mexico. Too cute! Lots of bamboo stuff.

Big lots and wal-mart and Target have lots of stuff since it is Summer.

I think the grass skirting material (available at party supply stores) makes a nice window treatment...try a large conch shell as a door stop...beach towels sewn together make nice throws over a neutral sofa.

On Marth Stewart the other day she had someone making a table skirting with grass skirts. She just cut them and made them one long thing and then stapled it to the edge of the table all around.
