As usual, here I am with an inane question, wondering if anyone else is as odd as I am! ;D
I really like the taste of fresh cherries, especially Bings, Rainiers and Queen Annes.
However, I really hate the taste of almost anything that's "cherry flavored." This includes hard candies, drinks, jello, and -- of course -- medicine!
I wondered if anyone else has this "love/hate relationship"? The only reason I can think of it, at least for me, is that I developed a distaste for the flavor as a child, when I had to drink cherry-flavored medicine. When the brain links a certain flavor with a bad experience or an ill feeling, it's very hard to ever like that flavor again. Add to that the fact that the cherry flavoring is never a very pleasant or accurate reproduction anyway! Yuck! :(
Fortunately, I guess "real" cherries taste different enough from their cheap knock-offs that I still enjoy them. :)
I'd like to hear what everyone else's experiences are. Thanks!

I didn't think I'd get so many answers, with so many interesting details and experiences! :) Thank you ALL -- I enjoyed reading everyone's contribution. Usually I pick a "Best" answer, but it's too hard this time, so I'm putting the question up for a vote. Thanks again.
