I was going between 2 dealerships to buy a new small truck. 1 guy gave me a price and looked around for a truck with my options (none!) the other traded for a truck not in my color with all these expensive options and I refused. He called me back and traded a dealership in another state for a truck STILL not my color or options. The 1st guy got everthing perfect, even the price so I bought it. The 2nd guy called and I told him, he said, "What? After all I did for you?! You are taking food out of the mouth of my wife and child! How dare you! I should take you to court and sue you for lying to me! You lead me on!" I said, you lost and didn't meet my demands, you can just blame yourself, and I will see you in court then, click!

Another dealership used a "bait-car", a cheap one in the paper, then tried to sell me something else. JERKS!

How about you?

A friend of mine's wife went to look at cars and the salesman took her keys and threw them on the roof. He told her that she couldn't leave until she bought a car. She walked next door and called him. When he and his wife left, the salesman wasn't talking much to anyone for a while.

I like when the salesman tells me to "Take it for a test drive, this is a great vehicle".
They don't like it when I come back into a busy showroom and loudly tell them what a piece of crap it was.

did you really have a Bad Experience? After all the 1st guy got you what you wanted. That sounds like a Good Experience!
He should be complemented on doing his job the right way!
As for #2 ....He did not do his job at all ! & therefore did not earn your business....He will not go far in this field & will figure that out soon enough, on his own ( when he can't pay his bills , because he can't make an honest living @ sellng cars like sales man #1)
There are alot more sales people like #1 than #2
Relating your 'Bad' experience, like this only gives the 'good guys' a bad rep.
Please remember that in every single occupation there are bad apples!

Not every salesperson is a scumbag !
Not every lawyer is an ambulance chaser !
Not every clergyman is a child molester !
Not every blond is ditsy !

The list could go on & on.........
As for the "bait- car" story ...There are 'Truth in Advertising" laws that took care of the 'bait & switch' ads back in the 1980's.

If they advertised a 'cheap' one in the paper & wouldn't let you buy it @ that price ....that would be wrong, But if It wasn't the color or equipment that you wanted why wouldn't they show or offer you some thing else ? Thats not being a jerk !

And as for the comment , not by you, but another answerer to your Q, about the keys being thrown on the roof ....well that story is a old as dirt.
I've always heard about the guy....who's brother...who's wife ...who new a guy..........etc.....that had his keys taken.......but in my 23 yrs in the biz (& I have witnessed & been part of THOUSANDS of car sales) I'v never actually known of it REALLY happening !

There are alot of people that come to this catagory @ Yahoo!Answers that try to help people with real questions in their field of expertise.
Questions (Or Statements) like these are insulting those good people!
I'm sure i speak for other Answerers

THINK ABOUT IT, SALESPEOPLE DON'T EVEN NEED HIGH SCHOOL DEGREES TO BE GOOD AT IT. THEY ARE THE LOWEST SCUM OF THE EARTH.
