With the planet drying up and water becoming a scarce commodity some cities are now forced to drink their own recycled sewerage water. Would you?

I just wanna add to this coz I'm not sure that everyone understands. When you do a poo it goes down the toilet and through the pipes and eventually finds its way to a treatment place and starts mixing around with other poos and piss and water. It's this mix that is being recycled into drinking water. The big pooey and pissy mix.

What are you talking about??? That's what we're drinking now!! Did you know the water supply is the same as it was back it B.C. Even the purified or bottle water, its all the same....it has to come from somewhere??? So we have been drinking the same recycled water for decades!!

We already do, but advances in technology have made it possible to do so safely. Sewage is recycled by separating solids from the water, and purified using chlorination and enzymes to destroy bacteria. The solids are dried, ground and then further composted and used as agricultural fertilizer, and often labeled 'organic'. The reclaimed water is not directly placed back into the water supply, but discharged via pipeline into the oceans to allow natural recycling before being reused in municipal water supplies.
I am not entirely sure of every detail, but this is roughly how it works.
And, yes I drink tap water and live in an urban area, so by default I already do. Thank God for Brita!!!

No offense, but don't you think that every creature living in that sea you want your water from has pooped in it too--rather drink chemically treated shark poo water, would you? And how do you really know where the other water you're drinking (bottled, etc.) came from, or what it's been through? I believe in the opening scene from "The Tuxedo" it showed a deer whizzing into a mountain spring stream, then following the stream all the way down the mountainside into to bottled water factory at the bottom--just a thought.

Since 1984 most major cities in the USA recycle their sewerage water or desalinate sea water.

Well, think about it. I live at the eastern end of Lake Erie...that means the water we get has been rused and reprocessed by millions before we get it, right? So in a way, we already do.
