She needs to see a vet. In the meantime, my vet suggested that I give my cat half a Vitamin C tablet to ease the pain.

It's an infection and requires antibiotics. Don't fool around with urinary tract infections. The infection can spread to the kidneys, then there is no remedy at all. HOWEVER once the urinary tract infection is cured with antibiotics a little acidophilus in the cat food can acidify the urine, same way it does with women. Don't use too much though, maybe 1/3 of a capsule twice a week should be enough. Vets have acidophilus especially formulated for cats and dogs.

U can try 'White Distilled Vinegar', it will help fight the infection. Just mix 1/4 teaspoon of white distilled vinegar, and 1/4 teaspoon of water, and add to wet cat food, twice a day until symptoms clear up. U can also buy some Ester C vitamins, give 250mg twice a day, if they only come in 500mg just break the tablet in half a crush it up, or if it comes in 500mg powder filled capsules, just pull apart a capsule and separate contents into 2 equal amounts, then mix it up in some wet cat food and give it to him. Another one u can use is, Urinary Tea Blend, if u can find it, it may be found in local Herbal Stores, if u do find it, make sure it contains these herbs: Goldenrod, Horsetail, Parsley, Marsh Mallow Root, and Elderberry. Give him 1 teaspoon of cooled tea 3 times a day till symptoms clear up. Dont mix these 3 remedies together, only pick one and try it. If your kitty isnt neutered, he needs to be asap cause that may help his Urinary Tract Infection problems. And be sure to keep his litterbox extra clean! Do keep in mind if he doesnt urinate for a 6 hour time period he will die, because that means he has a blockage, a buildup of poisonous toxins that accumulate in his urinary tract, and if they arent released he will not survive. If his poor potty results dont clear up u only have like 3 days to get him to a vet, or he wont survive! I know u said u cant afford a vet, but if his problems dont clear up soon he will have to be treated by a vet, likely u have at least one vet in your area that would allow your mum to make payment arrangements on this since UTI's are very very serious and must be treated right away! I hope the home remedies help him out, and he gets better:) I wish your kitty the best of luck:)

My cat had a mild urine infection and I bought her a special blend of dry cat food that helped in preventing urinary tract infections from my local Feed and Grain store. Then I did my research with the help of my vet and found that not only water but a few tablespoons of cranberry juice helped along with believe it or not dandelions that I picked and rinsed off and mixed in with some of her wet food. It took about 3 weeks of continuing this until she was fully cleared.

I'm not saying that this works for all cats and I'm all for taking pets to the vet when their severely ill, but even my cats veterinarian who's been in business in our neighborhood for 30 years has encouraged me to try home remedies that he has used on his pets when they had mild illnesses. And so far they've worked for me and my pets and they are less costly.

So I hope this answers your question. Give the home remedy a try but if she hasn't improved within the first week and a half take her to the vet ASAP.
