Yes, but it's harder than it should be. Apple set up their iPods so that music can't be taken off and put onto a computer because of music piracy.

I know you need to turn on "Hidden Folders" in order to view the music files, but I couldn't figure out how to do it, so I just asked how to do it for you here on Yahoo, and here's the response I got:

To view hidden folders...
Open My Computer
Click Tools -> Folder Options
Click the View Tab
Click the radio button beside "Show Hidden Files and Folders"
Thats it!

The iPod needs to already be plugged into the computer. Then you can click on My Computer, then iPod, then Music. It should be in folders with names F00 through F49 (depending how much music is there). However, when you open the folders, all the songs have funny names and you can't really tell what they are. Although for most of mine, it at least gave the artist name. So just copy and paste them all into a folder on the desktop, then open them all in iTunes. To make it easier: open iTunes, click File, then Add File to Library, then find the folder in the browse box and highlight them all. They will all show up with the right names in iTunes when you do this, however you will need to rename them on the computer if you plan to find them without iTunes. Which is going to take time. But if you only use iTunes to listen to music or burn CDs, then it doesn't really matter what the song files are named.

Hope that works for ya!!

Yeah, go to a store like Circuit City or Best Buy and look around. There is software u can buy and install that takes ur music from ur iPod and stores it into the computer without deleting ur songs in ur iPod. I use a software called "Tune Tools for iPod" It was only 20 bucks at Circuit City and works really well. U can go ahead and download something online but I've tried that and none look very safe. Play it safe and buy the software.

"Open your ipod under My Computer. Make sure you are able to see hidden files. click on your ipod and go to ipod_control. Click on music. There is a cache' of folders F00-F49. Ctrl-a to select all, and copy and paste them into your computer. the songs have weird names, but they turn normal when opened with itunes."

From someone before me. I just looked in there, and found that exact thing. That's the way to do it.

Yes. Most PC's have the ability to recognise systems that are connected to them via the USB ports, and can down load most of them. It might be that a specific program is required to extract the information, but that should have been included with your i-pod.

Hope this helps.

You have to get some other software to do it. I use EphPod, but it doesn't always work with all IPods. Read their site and see if it's for yours and you can copy your music off of it.

The problem lies in the fact that you bought apple. Try buying a dedicated flash player, it makes for more pleasant transfers :)

Yes, treat your iPod, as though it is a flash drive.
Use WINDOWS EXPLORER and "OPEN" all the hidden folders.
