What order do you paint the interior of a house?

YA, I WOULD START WITH THE CEILINGS. BUT IT'S BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT NO MATTER WHAT ORDER I PAINT I ALWAYS HAVE TO GO BACK AND DO TOUCH UPS. FOR ME IT WAS ALWAYS EASIER TO DO THE WALLS BEFORE THE TRIM UNLESS THEY'RE ALL THE SAME COLOR, OF COURSE.

It all depends how good of a painter you are. The ceiling is definitely first. If you feel comfortable (good) at painting straight lines with no tape then you would paint the trim second and the walls last. If your not comfortable (good) at painting straight lines then paint the walls second so that you can put that blue painters tape on a flat surface and then paint the trim. I would wait until the trim and/or the walls are dry before removing the tape you may need a second coat of paint. I wouldn't want to put the tape back because, one its time consuming, and two its expensive.

Happy painting

Yes, ceiling is first, but after that it doesn't matter if you do trim first or walls. I usually do trim last. Have you discovered the little trim tool they sell at Home Depot? It's a square spongey thingy that runs on wheels. Makes trimmig a breeze.

I have to agree with the others ceiling first... then walls.. trim last... using an edger or tape to protect what has already been painted.

ceiling, walls, then trim

blue painters tape is a godsend too.....remember to do the windowpanes when you do the trim...

and if you can raise the windows because of the weather, take a couple of apples and cut chunks out of them and leave them in the room overnight....DO NOT EAT THEM.....throw them away as they will act as a filter to remove the paint smell.

I just seen it on TLC tonight:

~ Ceiling
~ Trim
~ Walls

...at least that is how they did it.
