You'll have to read the exact terms of your specific scholarship to answer that question. If you don't have a copy, request one from the University. Also, ask the University specifically why they are cancelling the scholarship due to a temporary, documented medical absence.

I've attached a scholarship "policies and procedures" that seems to be a common sort. It says the scholarship will be cancelled if the recipient fails to register for any semester, but also allows for approved absences, such as for medical reasons.

depends on the college, but very good documentation for just one semester, probably not just cause. Beyond that, they sure could. In fact, you may need to read the fine print because some scholarships may be voided if they are not used for any reason. It depends on the scholarships of course.

It's possible...but they may hold your scholarship for a semester

When I was in high school, I got a music scholarship, but then I took the year off...when I showed up the following year, my scholarship was still available.

You're just going to have to contact the financial aid office to find out.
