For non-Christians, how many of you play Dungeons and Dragons? Do you feel the old "OMG TEY JUMPED OFF ROOF CAUSE CHARACTER DIED! Oh and demons" arguement has added to the game by generating hype, or limited the production of the game? Is the religious movement related towards TSRs downfall?

And what type of character do you play? What edition? What's your HP? What's your best looking die like?

And, just to be weird: anyone a dungeons and dragons player that actually DOES think it's evil?

If it wasn't clear, I'm a DnD player myself, not a Christian. I'm just curious to measure people's general response to the game.

Is it a tool of satan? no.
Non Christian players? I don't know.
Did the hype add to or limit the game? Add. D&D is played by a lot of teenagers, and typically teenage rebellion involves finding things to piss off your parents. The fact that it also ticks off a certain element of the dominant religion is a bonus for them.
Is it related to TSR's downfall? Nope. Bad financial mistakes and competition did that.
Favorite PC? Varies. Usually fighter types or rogue types, spellcasters are too complicated.
Edition? 3.5 baby!
What's my hit points? varies by character. get real.
Best die? A sweet red and black D20, rolled crap for a friend who said he'd never use it again and he gave it to me. Rolled great for me, it was just with the wrong person, poor baby.
Does any player actually think it's evil? umm, no. But since 6+6+6 is the "perfect" character stat, I can see why people could think that.

Well, I'm a Christian, I don't play Dungeons and Dragons. I don't really know too much about it, but I do enjoy other role-paying type games (Knights of the Old Republic, specifically.)

I don't really know enough to condem Dungeons and Dragons specifically, and it could be OK, but there's some point that stuff can get taken too far -- i mean, dragons, dungeons, ok...thats cool...but demons and dark superpowers? I'm not sure I'd want to be messing with that.

And I think the reason people jump off the roof is because they they don't have a life outside of the game -- but thats not a flaw of D&D, its a flaw of the person focusing on it too much.

but thats just my opinion.

I think Dungeons and Dragons and other fantasy role model games are for people who have a longing to experience God but who don't realize it on a conscious level. They want to imagine supernatural battles where good overcomes evil and people are given special powers.

A Christian knows that such a battle is already going on in the invisible world around us.

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

Does this sound familiar? Equipping oneself for supernatural battles?

See what I propose, back you're so incorrect and its because you do not realize Christianity nor the know God. before each and every thing Christianity isn't a faith, its the dominion of God. And it does no longer emphasize scuffling with devil, devil is already a defeated foe. besides the undeniable fact that it does emphasize that we face up to the devil and he will flee from us...yet Jesus has already whupped the devil, hes operating on borrowed time and his time is determining, his days are numbered and he knows it...

Oh my goodness.....don't you have anything better to do than sit around dissecting every teeny tiny thing? If you were a real Christian you would volunteer yourself to help others and then you wouldn't have time to sit around thinking about satan and a stupid game.

Also how do you know so much about this game.....Christian?

I think the hype helped sales, but that is an old, old game and there is much more competition around now.

its a GAME for flick's sake. Games are neither evil or good, they are just games. Its people who are evil, especially the ones who say anything fun is evil. and, no, I don't play D&D

There are documented cases of people (mainly teenagers) who have committed suicide after playing this game. It seems to become an obsession with them.
