Books seem to fascinate most children in one way or another, but definitely continue to fan that spark!!
But remember one thing when he is learning to read in a couple of years. Don't always give in and tell him the answers. Make him think....and sound everything out.
I made it harder on my daughter when she was learning to read by not always giving her the answers, which she hated at the time, but she is an upcoming 5th grader, reading on an 8th grade level now.
It also is a great kick to their self esteem when they figure it out on their own....with no help from mom!

My 12 month old loves to read too!! I'ts because I read to her every day, and she can even say "ba?" for book, and crawl over to grab a book off the shelf. Your baby loves to read, because you must read to him alot- you are a good mother!! They can learn a whole lot from books. Keep up the good work!! Oh, don't deny him a book when he wants to read, say "ok, let's read".
My oldest daughter is 5, and an excellant reader!!! I mean, she's good!!! I think it's because we read so much to her too when she was little- I"ve kept it up even until now. We all take turns reading. The baby gets read to first, then My girl reads me a book, and I read her 2 other books of her choice- it's neat how many questions they will ask too.

My 13 month old loves books too. I started reading to her at 6 months old and it always soothed her. It is great that your child is showing interest in books. This shows that you have also been reading to your son from an early age.

My 14 month old son loves reading as well. I've been reading to him since he was born. His first book was 'Wind in the Willows'. Now he pulls out his favorite books, and sits in the floor and "reads" them outloud and points at the pictures. Reading time is one of the calmest times of our day! lol

THATS GREAT THAT YOUR BABY DOES THAT. My niece does that shes four and I have been reading to her since she way a year old. She is so smart, the stories that I read to her helped her to talk early too because she would repeat the words in the book.

Our daughter was the same way at that age... Definately encourage it! She especially loved interactive books (touch / sound). Now she's reading some words at age 5... and she's yet to start formal schooling.
