most answers seem to be right in this section. Depending on the age, it could be arthritis (usually found in Rots after 6 years). If they are young, you might want to get X-rays done to verify hip problems in the for of splinters or dysplasia. Worst case senario, which aren't common in rots, is a tumor on the spine discs but its not likely. Best advice, if he is over 18 months old, is give them Glucosamine. Also, food wise, if you feed kibble, find a kibble with some sort of meat (meat, chicken, lamb, fish) as the FIRST ingredient. Other than this, if they are old, you have to come to this realization; your god is probably getting old and one day the time will come when he/she must be put down. I know its a hard fact to understand but it is a fact of life. I hope this is not the issue with you but if it is, hope everything works out and you enjoy your pet now and forever.

How old is the dog? This sounds like typical symptoms of arthritus. Could even be something along the lines of a slipped disc.
You will need a vet visit for both of these diagnoses however.
Good luck!

Usually when a dog sits with both legs to one side it is a sign of hip dysplasia. It sounds like he is in pain and I agree with the others you should take him to your vet.

rottweilers are a rather large breed. Does he jump down out of a truck or off something high? might need a vet to check his spinal alignment. Dogs do slip discs and pinch nerves just like humans.

How old is the dog? Maybe he has hip dysplasia. Sometimes you will see signs of it in a growing puppy (around 8 or 9 months old) but often you don't see signs until the dog is aging and it becomes more difficult for them to get around.

if your dog is a true breed it could be to do with that it could be inherited like artheritis or old age in the joints but i would take him to a vet as soon as possible because i dont want to scare you but it could be some kind of growth worth getting it checked out the sooner the more treatable hope all goes well and that he is ok best of luck

Rottie's can have hip dysplasia http://www.vetinfo.com/ddyspla.html . Is he lame on one or both of his rear limbs? As this can be a sign (( some times there are no signs )), also it could be arthritis. If you think it could be hip dysplasia then click on my link it has loads of info on it. Try and get him to a vet as they know more than we do. Good luck!!

Have him checked by your vet, for hip dysplasia. "Common in a lot of larger breed dogs"
There could be some bone abnormality other than this too that your vet may check for. X-RAY

When I was a kid my grandparents had a sheep dog that did the same thing. They ended up taking him to the vet and found out that he had arthritis in his hind quarters. You need to get him to the vet as quickly as possible, they can give him medicine to help him be able to get relief.

Most likely your rotty has hip desplasia its common in large breed dogs. You can give him/ her pain pills from your vet that will make him/ her more comfortable or if you have a lot of money you can take your dog in to get that corrected.
