Three years back a Christian preacher managed to convert a stupid friend of mine(he was stupid back then). What made him convinced was the statement of the preacher:"Are you sure that you will go to heaven if you die today? Take refuge now to our Lord Jesus and you are saved".
My friend cried and became a Christian and ask the preacher to say something to him. That preacher told him" Hallaluulluah!! Jesus
my Lord--you are now filled with Holy Spirit and He will always guide you and you are assured Salvation.
Three years later:
My friend pissed on the Bible yesterday.
Strange???

answer to JonathanT:
No, I asked us to explain the behaviour of your the preacher. My friend was stupid. So, he became a Christian. But later he became intelligent enough to
leave it . Thr preacher was a stupid moron whose statement proved to be moronic.

Many times per hour a question poser or responder in this category will claim that all Christians or all religious people in general are “dumb,” “ignorant,” “stupid,” or something of this nature. No substantiation will be given for this theory (statistics related to IQ tests, grade point averages, etc.). At best, as is the case here, a single anecdote will be presented, and the poser will hope to deceive all of you into thinking it must be the same for every Christian. Broad sweeping generalizations like this fail to take into account the intelligence diversity in any large group. The accusation, ironically, appears dumb, ignorant, or stupid itself. It ends up being little more than unsubstantiated name-calling.

How then shall we respond once this has occurred? If we remain silent, the simple-minded among us might actually believe that all of a certain people group lack intelligence, so silence is not an option. If those outside the category of Christians or religious people would disavow incorrect and unnecessarily belittling attacks, then perhaps peer pressure from their own group would cause them to pursue correct and helpful discussion point. If Christians in particular and religious people in general will politely articulate the incorrectness of this fallacy without seeking retribution, then perhaps it will take away the perceived benefits of the name-calling in the first place.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, look carefully at such accusations and ask for the Spirit’s leading on whether this is one of those “turn the other cheek” moments (Matt 5:39) or one of those “be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you” moments (1 Pet 3:15).

May God bless the constructive dialog in this category.

Unfortunately, people are still human, and people as a species are Stupid; Jesus didn't label humans as sheep for nothing. Sheep are stupid creatures. They need a shepherd; Jesus is the Great Shepherd, and if your friend is a new Christian, he still might do some of the old behavior until he is convicted of that sinful behavior by the Holy Spirit. Are you a Christian? If so, then be a support and help to him. Sometimes we, as Christians, are the only Bible other people will read and the only Jesus they will see until He comes again in Glory.

Or are you asking if Christians are morons?
Nope we are not, but you need to find better friends. Why hang around with someone that you say is stupid and a former moron

Stupid people are everywhere. It does occur to me that religion has been responsible for a lot of stupidity in the history of humanity, but that has served to develop our sense of the ironic, which is often amusing. If you are interested in religion developing smarts, observe the Cardinal Richelieu's "raison d'etat," which is the overarching force in most of the geopolitical violence in the world today. A religious man took the bold step of affirming that a state should look out for its own best interests. The notion of religion as being in the best interest of a state is as foreign to many of the best religious minds as the notion of state being in the best interest of religion is to many American minds, more than a few of them being the writers of the Constitution and most of its supporting documents.
Your question seems to ask us to explain the behaviour of your friend. If it suits you to think that anyone responding to the question is a "moron," that is your own delusion, and none of us can assume any responsibility for it, other than yourself.
Faith does not occur easily for most people. Some would even piss on the Bible. If this occurs regularly in your household, I would suggest cleaning up before you vacate or try to sell your home. One thing we can agree on quite aside from faith is property.

My stepfather was a preacher AND was in the army...it doesn't get worse than that. Some of those people are REALLY f****d up. They sell Jesus like a damn street vendor sells a porno mag, it's really sad. Even more sad when people blindly go in for it. religion has been so deranged and distorted from what it really is today that everyone has to be really careful with what group of people you join...watch out for them crazy cults lol.

I am not sure I get your point. You think that Christianity has a market on stupidity? Well, some of the most brilliant minds were also Christian---Blase Pascal, Thomas Aquinas, Augustine, and the list could go on......

Believe me---there are plenty of Dumb A$$es to go around.

Theres a question there somewhere?
You can be saved and you can backslide.I don`t believe once saved always saved.I do believe that when your saved you become a child of God,before that he never knew you.But if you don`t serve him and back slide then though he now knows you you are still lost.
