Before it rains, the sky darkens. The darkness increases the production of melatonin in the human brain. You will feel sleepy when the level of melatonin raises beyond a certain level.

You can reduce the sleepy feeling by looking into something bright or by drinking some coffee.

This is actually not something mental its physical and very normal.

What happens is as the barometric pressure decreases we get a feeling of loss of energy and therefore it makes you feel sleepy

I think the rain is a calming sound and the smell is calming also.

Rain always makes me feel more energized... so, I don't know about you. It may be the calming sound or smell.

I'm more awake when it's raining. When it's bright and sunny it drains my energy.
