I've heard they smell like Fritos before too, but never popcorn. It can be the sign of a type of fungal infection. If he chews or licks his feet alot or they appear to have sores, that may be where the smell is coming from. If this is something new for him you should talk to your vet about it.

Maybe it's toe jam.
I don't make it a habit to smell my dogs feet, but occassionaly she will stick them in my face when sleeping, thus allowing me to tell if they have odor or not.
A dogs feet needs to be cleaned too when given a bath.
I also trim the hair down to the pads that grow between them. This is where dirt, and all that junk they walk in get trapped, and causes odor.

hahaha, wow same with me, except my dog's feet smell like rotten fungus-growing popcorn lol! It must be some kind of odor in their paws

Dogs feet do have a certain smell that is oddly pleasant. Almost disturbingly pleasant.

Dogs' have scent glands in their feet, that's also how they sweat. Your dog's feet smell musky because that's how she/he shares her particular scent.
