Willys cynical thought for the day;

Never buy a coffin without a freaking lifetime guarantee!

These lyrics mean a lot to me; and a lot of his other songs, He was one of the early Blues based White Boys, starting out in the early 60s he was born in Pomona California in 1949 though I always see his home given as Minneapolis. He is setting off on tour soon if he plays near ya I'd definately go see him, but he isn't gonna play the 'Big Cities' so I may miss him. This is song 2 of the CD "Blood Money" released in 2002 on the Anti sub-label of Epitaph Records. Read the lyrics and imagine Tom Waits singing and playing this on piano. His voice has been described as; as sounding "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months and then taken outside and run over with a car." With this trademark growl, as well as his experimental tendencies and a love of pre-rock Americana styles such as blues, jazz, and Vaudeville, Waits has built up a distinctive musical persona.

EVERYTHING GOES TO HELL

By Tom Waits/Kathleen Brennan 2000

Why be sweet, why be careful, why be kind?
A man has only one thing on his mind!
Why ask politely, why go lightly, why say please?
They only want to get you on your knees!
There's a few things that I never could believe;

A woman when she weeps,
A merchant when he swears!
A thief who says he'll pay,
A lawyer when he cares!
A snake when he is sleeping,
A drunkard when he prays!
I don't believe you go to heaven when you're good,
And everything goes to hell, anyway!

Laissez-faire mi amour, ce la vie,
Shall I return to shore or swim back out to sea?
The world don't care what a sailor does in town,
It's all hanging in the windows by the pound!
I don't believe you go to heaven when you're good,
Everything goes to hell, anyway!

I only want to hear you purr and to hear you moan,
You have another man who brings the money home!
I don't want dishes in the sink,
Don't ask me what I feel or what I think!
There's a few things that I never could believe;

A woman when she weeps,
A merchant when he swears!
A thief who says he'll pay,
A lawyer when he cares!
A snake when he is sleeping,
A drunkard when he prays!
I don't believe you go to heaven when you're good,
Everything goes to hell, anyway!

Everything goes to hell, anyway,
Oh, everything goes to hell, anyway!!!...

That's not near as bad as 'I Flushed You From the Toilet of My Heart', that one of my buddies sent me last month! But it's good! Let me know if they hit the college towns in KS.

As long as they ain't Country & Western I'd check it out!

I pray for this man that God gets hold of him before he dies. Not because I think he is going to hell, but because he really needs to know God for himself, and not make blanket judgements about all christians. Not all of us are religious fanatics. And God is really not who the church world paints Him to be. He is a loving God and Father, who longs to love His children, and let them know how much.

Poor cynical old man, going to his grave and no one to mourn him. Was he ever in the world?

They have a unique sound. I'm sure there's something there that you'd actually like!

Thousands of young people, hands raised, praising the name of Jesus with one voice, expressing total openness to God and His miracle-working power in our lives.

Shut up button, moron, it's about the inevitability of death, the trap of life, the net of religion, why don't you put your brain to good use.
