My daughter started developing at 7, it is not uncommon. She is 10 now and has almost completely developed. Girls are developing at faster and faster rates then ever before. A friend's daughter even started her period at 8.
There is a WONDERFUL book you can get, from American Girl, called "The Care and Keeping of Me". My daughter's pediatritian recommended it, and with you being a single dad it can come in VERY handy.
It explains development to younger girls, and covers everything from basic body care, hair, skin, etc, to more complex topics like physical development of breasts and "other" areas, shaving underarms, and how to put in a tampon. Come on Dad, do YOU want to answer those questions?
Not that throwing a book in their laps is the best answer all the time, but if there is a topic that makes her uncomfortable with you, find that section in the book and read it yourself. Ask her to read it, and if she still has questions, to come ask you about it.
There is little her doctor can do, but you can say something at her next check-up, just to make sure he/she is aware of your concerns. And the itching, probably due to the skin stretching a bit, but again, say something to her doc and check from time to time.

7 years old is rather young but not unhealthy. Since they are hurting you should visit the Dr. Before you go be sure to explain to your daughter that everything is normal. She should already know what "those" are (if that is what you mean). You need to talk to her on a regular basis about her body, how it will change, how it is different from others and KEEP THAT LINE OF COMMUNICATION OPEN you are her main source for everything in life at this stage. A close female friend or family member can help but you are the Dad and will be forever, she will need you to help her in every area of her life. Get Books for you, for her and for you two to go through together, she is too young to learn on her own and she needs you not just words or a substitute female.

I would get in touch with a close female relative for her to confide in since that is something the mom is supposed to do. Where is mom anyway? If you have to be the one just tell her girls go through this and it's ok. Maybe if you can't find a relative go to a school nurse for help or someone like that. It really is not a reason to freak out though. That's a fairly easy one for you. Give her a few more years and it will get tougher.

My oldest developed very early.. when she was 6 1/2 she began to show signs of puberty.. can't stop it... just had to let it happen... by the time she was 8 she was in a bra... She is now 11.. she is 5"5', has larger bra size than her aunt whom is 20 years old... she has also had her period for almost a year and shaves regular.. it happens! Just talk her through it.. Take her to a pediatrician to help you and her through this.
Good luck Dad!

My 8 year old daughter has tiny breast buds. Seems pretty normal. If they are hurting, a call to the doctor is in order.

Since there was nothing there, it is probably internal pains. You should go to her doctor asap and explain the situation to him/her. Try to go asap, just in case it is something that needs to treated early. Good luck to you and I hope I helped you in any way possible.
