My daughter is 6 and wears them now. If you go to wal-mart, k-mart, target, whatever; you can find the little bra and panties sets. My daughter loves these (as most of her friends wear them too). I figured if she wore them now, when she gets older it will be no big deal when it comes time to move into a real bra.

I have a 10 yr old daughter, and a 10 yr old step-daughter. They have both been wearing training bras and sports bras for about 6 mos now. Actually my step-daughter needed one at 9, so she has been wearing one longer. Girls today are developing a lot sooner. I, personally, would take her out shopping (just the girls), and let her pick a couple out. This would be a bonding experience for both of you, and let her know that she can come to talk to you about these things, and not be embarrassed.

By the time I was 10 yrs old, I was fully developed and had really big boobs at 12. My mother was as old fashioned as hell and would not get me a bra. Thank god I had older sisters who noticed. My sister came home for a visit and saved the day. She underestimated my bust size and bought me some bras that were to small and I wore them anyways. I was in a 34 B and I remember it as plain as day.
If you can see nipples sticking up. It is bra time. My daughter got a bra at around 11 or so. We started with the ones that look like sports bras and worked our way up.

Now is the perfect time to get her a training bra. I started wearing a training bra when I was 9. You should have a talk with her and see if she's ready for it yet. If she's not, then you should have her wear a tank top underneath her clothes until she's ready.

When she starts to show a little growth. Even though she technically doesn't need it. A training bra may help her not be so self-conscious of her body changing. Also, I would suggest one to any girls who are put in a situation where she has to change clothes for gym class.

I remember at about 10 I had to wear a bra, even though I was flat as a board until about 14. Unfortunately, she'll have to deal with ignorant boys that snap her brastrap, but at the same time, she will feel more womanly, grown-up, and as long as you make it positive, confident in herself.

I wouldn't bother before she's physically ready for one- when the nipples start enlarging and poking out, usually around 6th grade or so. When you can see that happening, take her out shopping and have her try on several different types of bras so that she'll be as comfortable as possible wearing them.

As soon as she wants one. It is a mix of needing one for the obvious physical reasons and because the other girls have them. Puberty is an embarrassing experience, especially at the start, so talk to her about this and help her when she is ready.
