I believe the fact that people dont want amnesty granted, is just childish, because if people who are not paying their income taxes and who are being accused of comitting all those financial crimes that illegals are being accused of became legal then, they would pay taxes etc, and yes the borders should be secured.

that would be the most humanitarian way of dealing with the problem, both sides would compromise, but since people want it all then, f%$^ it this is just gonna keep going on and well still be talking about it later,

yea i know, i know "its not acceptable, its illegal, i am being violated of my rights as a us citizen, ive heard it all"
but we want a fix as soon as possible, and border security is the biggest problem, people already here is not the biggest problem, amnesty is the best answer and the one that can make both sides compromise.

well then it should be amnesty and a REAL SECURE BORDER,
problems with officials executing those programs is the real problem.

THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM IF THE BORDER WAS REALLY SECURED, BUT amnesty will not cause major problems, since all those people would be LEGAL NOW,

anti amnesty is only a matter of punishing people, that is just going to cause more time.

Amnesty and a secure border? Sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, those in power interested in granting amnesty do not care to secure our border. Amnesty WITHOUT a secure border would just encourage more to pour through.

Poor people don't pay enough taxes to pay for themselves, particularly when it comes to education and health care. We pay. That is why we limit poor immigrants. And no. Many more steps would be needed such as interior enforcement and dismantling of the employment and benefit magnets. And I will always believe the bad sort should be deported, which includes the 302,000 Homeland Security estimates will be brought into our local and state jails this year alone. With that I could go for amnesty of only those here. Bringing in multiple family members would be disasterous though. The schools are already failing.

Amnesty for illegals is totally the WRONG thing to do. The laws should be upheld, and if that means shipping them all out then so be it. The borders MUST be secured, this is the most important thing, after which severe penalties for hiring illegals.

Forget about any form of amnesty altogether, won't work.

Here's one theory:

If you grant amnesty then all those people just became legal citizens. The companies that were employing them as illegals, now have to pay taxes, social security, offer benefits, and disability insurance on all those people, not to mention pay them at least minimum wage.

Those people just became expensive employees. So the companies will probably lay them off.

Then the company will what? It will look for cheaper labor. Where will it get it? More illegals.

Problem has just doubled, because we have more illegals and a whole bunch of new citizens unemployed.

It is unlikely that the border could ever be "secure." If people can get in/out legally, it can be done illegally as well. The problem is not that people are coming in, it is that we don't know who they are. Part of the problem is that it is a mess and a hassle to get a greencard or a visa. If it were easier to enter the country more people would do it and we would be able to monitor them. Then the people who were coming in without permission would be true criminals as opposed to poor people who just want a better standard of living.

President Reagan gave amnesty and it obviously didn't work because there are about 12 million illegals in the US today. Can we sent 12 million unemployed people to Mexico to balance this out?

A secure border and enforcement of immigration laws would help teh problem. Amnesty would only encourage more breaking of our border laws.

Amnesty for what? parking tickets? are you $hitting me? The only reason the gov. is even talking amnesty is because they are lazy. I'll tell you what , if they said you have ten days to be gone or we will put you in prison camps, I think you would "head for the border"!

No amnesty....not even close....we will fight that one until there is not one of us left...but by then there will be no one at all...

We do not have to compromise that which is already ours and that which is NOT theirs.
