They can't discriminate due to medical conditions, they can let you go due to unplanned absenses or extensive periods of long term disability.

this would depend on the wording of your contract (or terms of employment), as well as the discretion of your boss. Technically, I believe they can't hold medical conditions against you when, especially in the way of taking time off...however, if it affects your ability to perform your job, they might be able to fire you, especially if the medical condition keeps you from being able to do what you're hired to do.
Talk to your boss about it and find out where you stand.
