my computer is running kind of slow and my programs are running slower then usual. please let me know which program i can download that can help thanks.

Adaware SE, as was mentioned, and Spybot S&D are both good. Each finds stuff the other misses, so I use them both. You can find links to them both at http://www.download.com

I used to recommend Adaware, then it was Spyware Nuker (I still love the guys that wrote that software), but today, I can't recommend anything other that Microsoft Windows Defender.
Microsoft released this software about a year ago and called it the Anti-Spyware Beta. It has recently changed names to Windows Defender. It's free, although I've heard rumors that they might start charging for it at some point.

It's in it's 2nd beta and is rock solid stable. It works very well. I haven't had a spyware infection problem since I've been running it.

Do three things:
1) Download Firefox. It is a browser that blocks almost all spyware. Free
2) Download Adware SE from Lavasoft. Very good anti-spyware program. Free.
3) Get the free yahoo anti-spyware tool.
With Mozilla's Firefox you will hardly need those anti-spyware programs, except occasionally.

This will tell you a lot about what is on your computer, such as running programmes,cookies, History, settings etc. and will help you clean up and remove unwanted items. Be careful how you use it as it is a very powerful programme and you should read the help index before you do anything with it.

I personally use a combo to keep my computer clean. Ad aware, spybot, AVG and HiJack this. I run the first three and kill off anything and then if I really get something nasty I use HiJack - although I've only used it once so that shows how good the other three work.

loose on line antivirus utility is in many cases no longer that good. most of the time, they`re merely scans that don`t eliminate or defend something. i could be attentive to because of the fact i attempted multiple loose on line antivirus utility and that all of them did no longer artwork.

Then disable and/or uninstall whatever u don't need.
Other things to try:
1 - Disk Cleanup (removal of temp files, cookies, etc.)
