I have read the bible through several times, cover to cover, and attended bible studies, group discussions and one-on-one sessions with pastors. I have thought a tremendous amount about what it means, both to me personally and to the world.
That's why I'm an atheist.

I have read the Bible cover to cover. I think about -everything-, and the Bible was not exempt.
As a kid, I was raised by Christian parents and so of course I went to church. It was more interesting to read the Bible than to listen to the preacher. I mean, c'mon. Tales of nudity, circumcision, rape, violence... What could be more fun?
I thought it was bull. Seemed so pretentious and stupid. Especially for the stuff Paul wrote. It seemed so counterintuitive.
Rabid atheist here.

Read it about 3 times or so....and I am a Christian. What's the big deal about reading the Bible cover to cover? It's just as simple as reading any book from cover to cover.

I'm a neo pagan.
I'm reading it cover to cover for the third time. I try to re-read it every few years in between my reading of other sacred and mythological texts. A fantastic book.

Read it once, followed by a lot of church attendance. It basically tells us that life is not about us; its about God. Basically, if we love God and love our neighbors, which is the greatest of all commandments, everything will work good for us. Try it... I have regularly applied it in my life and it truly changed me. We don't have to like everybody, just love them as God loves us; bear with them. Loving God means, doing the right thing and following God's commands. The greatest commission is to spread the word of God. I am a Christian since 2002.
