Your perception is wrong, New Testament was made basically because the Old Testament is not complete. New Testament is the fullfillment of what was prophesied in the Old Testament books.
On topics on before the creation of heavens and earth there are events mentioned in the New Testament books which you can not read in the Old Testament books particulary the book of Genesis.
On topics on homosexuality, there lots writings about it not just literal meaning but also spiritual.

Because those are the worst issues. Jesus isn't an issue he's my Savior. Homosexuality is a sin, slavery is brutal and creation is true. Evolution is false in humans. But animals have evoled not humans.

I think it's because the New Testament is more spiritual than the Old Testament is, so it's harder to interpret correctly. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm not very good at interpreting scripture...I really need to start taking a good bible study class :)
