Asperger's syndrom can run in families (see the link below). However, "normal" parents can also produce offspring with autism, Asperger's Syndrome, or other PDDs.

It's still hazy whether there's a parent-to-child genetic connection, but it's possible. Parents of children with Asperger's have been observed to show a few Asperger's-like behaviors.

Another thing that suggests a genetic component is the incidence of siblings with ASD. If you have a child with ASD, the odds of having another child with it go WAY up, to something like 1 in 4.
