i mean, if thats the case, shouldnt it be called GREENboard?

In the olden days, they were black.

I think blackboards were first black. But apparently it was determined that green is a much more relaxing and pleasant color, and so they changed blackboards to green...but not the name.

Note: They are also called chalk boards. Maybe the name blackboard was sometimes used because they used to be black and the name stuck.

Yeah, they were always black in my school years...maybe green is easier to clean...then again, I always called it a chalk board.

Black boards used to be black..But they are that color because white shows up most prominantely on dark colors

Most aren't. Besides most schools use whiteboards now. And yes they are only white.
